Thats fuckin crazy. Now that I think about it you can really hear the influence of the streets in their work. ;D
Politics. It's a drag. They put one foot in the grave, and the other on The Flag.

Quotebelieve what you want true. i'm just telling you what i've heard around the campfire.

I will because you don't have any proof.

::)

whatever.  you remind of this guy who told me i was full of shit when i said mmj was opening for wilco at the palace unannounced and when i told everyone that there is a jim does george harrison album.  I didn't have "proof" of those things either but they have both now been confirmed. maybe when i do have proof you'll disappear just like he did.

i'm not going anywhere, haven't you figured that out by now?
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

QuoteSome geniuses  do everything under the name of the band, John Fogerty at times wrote, recorded, played, and produced 100% of a CCR song. I personally believe AMD because as a musician, one with such a vision, you wouldn't sit around and wait for people to show up to play their part. You would do everything as it hit you. Also since MMJ was an outlet for songs his band couldn't use, alot of that stuff could have been recorded before he even thought about bringing anybody else into a band. If you are a musician yourself you know how it is to have every sound of a song in your head. Why try to communicate that sound in your head to someone else, who better to capture your imagination on tape than you?

Exactly.  Billy Corgan played almost everything on Melancholy the Infinite Sadness but he was a big enough ego-maniac to tell everybody that.  Jim isn't like that.  Choices he's made throughout the band's career shows he's not interested in being front and center and taking all the credit he deserves.

It was earlier than that.  Siamese Dream (I've been drinking - excuse the spelling and/or gramiatical errors from here on out) was always rumored to be Billy-only with the exception of Jimmy's amazing drum work.  He always shit on D'Arcy and downplayed James Iha.  All I know is that I saw them live for the SD tour and the dueling leads between Billy boy and Mr. Iha were amazing - never seen anything else like it.  It was like they were finishing each other's sentences.  They've never come close since.

That being said, MMJ is clearly Jim's musical vision expressed through great players.  Do they not pull it of live?  Who cares if he plays the zither or not.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

#007- How did the band Concrete Blonde get their name?
I need (a) The person who said it and (b) What they were referring to.

You are right, Michael Stipe used the term Concrete Blonde regarding the dichotomy between the band's hard edge and vulnerable, introspective lyrics.

Good idea to bump this one K...only problem is I don't know the answer  ;)

Looks like we might need an A, B, C, D option on this one K.

My pleasure Tom (you're my 2nd Four Horsemen convert - Chills was the first!)

I'll see if I can't get that track 'magically' sent off to you sometime later today  ;)

thank you so much! if there would be any possible way to magically have access to the entire album, I would be eternally grateful, it looks like the album is a little hard to track down over here...

just realized that request came off a bit needy, and I apologize, as I tend to lose a bit of tact and manners when it gets super late. I would love it if you could find a way to send "The Four Horsemen" over, man. If you've got the resources, I would love to be able to check out the whole album, too, but it looks like I actually can get it on Amazon used. Looks like this is quite a treasured album, though! Some copies are selling for around $30!!

Haha, I didn't think you were rude at all Tom. Unfortunately I don't have the album (666) but I do have a double disc CD that has quite a few tracks from it, which I'm uploading now  :)

Did we get an answer for this one K?

Here's another question one...which band from Liverpool had a hit single in the early 90s with 'There She Goes'?

The La's?

Got to know them through Pearl Jam's "Timeless Melody" cover.
