This band reminds me of The Black Angels to some extent. I'm enjoying them. I found them on the Hidden Track blog. Trippy and psychedelic. I can't type their name because it requires some keyboard shortcut I have no idea how to do.

I still can't type Follakzoid correctly because of the two dots over the first 'o'.   I listened to them again last night and I enjoyed them even more. I may have a new favorite band.

Trail of Dead - How Near How Far (Live)

Checking out some of the "new" old vinyl I have been buying.  Such a great album.

I can't stop listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. I'm absolutely in love with their most recent album Here.

EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS - FIRE & WATER (RIVER OF LOVE) (iTUNES SESSION)
Babe, let's get one thing clear, there's much more stardust when you're near.

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit - Live From Alabama

My first listen, on vinyl, right now!  HOLY HELL, this is great!  Shame I couldn't make it to Dix Hills last summer.  This summer I'll have to check him out in Newport.  At first, I cringed at the country-ness of it, but then the rock took over.  Good stuff!

Anybody forum peeps make these shows?

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I really want to see Jason Isbell, he's very high on my people I have yet to see list. He played Philly not too long ago but it was on a weekday. Oh well, one of these days I'll see him. That live album is great, the man can write a hell of a song.

Are you saying he literally played in his backyard???

I saw Jason Isbell in December in Lexington, KY. Show was at a tiny place and was fuckinawesome!!  I also got to see him solo acoustic twice as the opening act for Ryan Adams last winter and he was great in that setting as well. But I prefer the band. If they are near you you MUST try to see them!

And that LIVE From Alabama album is one of my favorite things to listen to for the last several months.

I was hooked on that album for a while too. We saw them last summer outside in the pouring rain and it was a really good show. That woman in the band can sing her ass off!

Yep--HH can tell you more but he has a show in his backyard each summer and last year he got Jason Isbell (a few from this forum were there, too) His GF at the time (wife  now) Amanda Shires joined him, too..he covered Todd Snider's "Train Song" and also played "TVA"...a crowd favorite

He's in the studio (although he's been on his honeymoon for a week or so) working on a new album, and I believe Ryan Adams is assisting him---not sure to what extent--if he's producing or singing on it or co-writing..

PS--the best Drive-by Truckers albums are the Jason albums...(although Southern Rock Opera is pretty stellar)

Angelo- Yep, Jason in our backyard last summer doing a private show for about 120 guests was pretty special.  My wife and I have been doing backyard private concerts for 5 years now and have had some pretty great times.  Always a special time as everyone gets to hang out, meet and take pictures with the artist.  Jason is a pretty quiet guy but was extremely nice and friendly with everyone.  We had about 10 people from this forum last year and will probably have a few more than that for this year's upcoming show.

If you are a big fan of Jason and DBT and might be free the 2nd weekend in March, send me a pm.

was some shakin' and some record playin'

I think Southern Rock Opera, Decoration Day, and The Dirty South are the 3 best DBT albums.  Jason is on DD and TDS.  He's also on A Blessing And A Curse which has some great songs but I think is uneven overall.
