Thank you miss Nymph, it was! SOOO GOOOD! I can't quite put it into words yet, but I will, soon, whenever I think of it I just think: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! And how sweet is it that Conor switched to a microphone with reverb to sing Beginner's Mind, woop, woop!  8) And Nate's trumpet, OH MY GOD, when he plays that trumpet, it's so beautiful it makes you want to cry of joy! :D

I passed on this show since I've seen them the last two times they've played Pittsburgh, I can't afford to go to every show that comes here at the moment. I'm surprised it sold out, the first time I saw them they played tiny Club Cafe. They've gotten a much bigger following since then.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

M.Ward.

Wow!

He played a lot of stuff from Hold Time, Post War and Transfiguration of Vincent.
Poison Cup, One Hundred Million Years, Requiem (I almost cried), Here Comes The Sun Again and Vincent O'Brien (on piano!!!!) were the highlights.
He was so amazing.
How loud can silence get?

Just curious.  No Monsters of Folk tunes?  Not that he needs to dip into that well with his own impressive back catalog.

Heartless Bastards in Oklahoma City last night -- AWESOME. So loud and good, and Erika's voice is so strong and penetrating, but a tiny and quiet crowd (no alcohol at the venue). They unleashed a bunch of new material, at least half the show were tunes I didn't recognize, but all were outstanding. I snagged a handwritten cheat sheet of lyrics that were written earlier in the day on the back of a ticket, hope that wasn't her only copy. ;)

Wintersleep (with Rah Rah) last Monday. Bright Eyes, The Whigs + Dead Confederate and Wintersleep all played on the same day at different places, so I had to chose. Bright Eyes sold out quickly and Wintersleep played in my hometown, so I decided to see them (for the 3rd time).

Glad I did! These guys really have become better since I saw them the first time (some years ago). The new songs really sound better live than on the CD (I like the new CD, but not as much (yet) as their 2 previous albums). Band played perfectly! Their bassplayer is very, very good. Small venue (100 people) with good sound. Only negative point was that they played only one   :'( song of their Untitled album, but that was immediately the best song of the evening: "Nerves Normal. Breath Normal". Still one of the best live songs ever imo  ;). "Laser Beams" is also one of my favorites. Great show!

Rah Rah was also very good. Young talented musicians, also from Canada. Reminded me a lot of The New Pornographers.

"Experience the Jewel" from Wintersleep's new album for people that havent heard it yet:Wintersleep - Experience The Jewel

Last Night:  Prince
The Night before last:  Yo La Tengo  (they covered Prince's "The Beautiful Ones" - so cool!)

Touch me I'm going to scream.

Doing a little catch-up.

Sara, how did you manage to catch Bright Eyes so soon after the new album dropped?  I guess I'm surprised to hear they came to your Swedish neck o' woods in support of the new album this early.  It has to be your awesome fan-ness, yes?  Maybe MMJ is next?

AH that sounds amazing!  I didn't know he was touring right now!  You are one lucky lady!

The last show I saw was Streetlight Manifesto.  They played a tiny venue and had two opening bands, the first of whom were really, really good.  I had never heard of them before, I believe they were called Lionize.  They were kind of a younger, more upbeat/reggae version of Govt. Mule.  I quite enjoyed them.
I can't even remember the name of the second band and don't really care...they just weren't my kind of music.  It was a very Linkin Park/Nickelback thing....ugh I have no idea why on earth they were opening for Streetlight.
Streetlight was epic, though.  They're SO TIGHT.  Their set seemed really short to me, though...maybe it's just because it was an early show.  Anyway, $16 well spent!
I was supposed to go to Yann Tiersen this weekend but now I cant....blergh.
