Some of the loudest shows I've been to have been at the 930 Club, particularly when you get stuck under the speakers.  Besides Jurassic5, I think last night's Mastodon show was the only other show where I think I probably should've tried earplugs based on where I was standing.  Regardless, my body is showing the effects of the beating I took in the pit the entire show.  Most of surfers were alright but a fat kid got dropped on me and he kicked me in the spine on the way down.  Felt it pretty good even though I was vodka numb.  Great show!  Probably the 1st full show I spent in a pit in a decade or so.

I'm curious what Mr. Whippy thought of it from the balcony.  I'm not a big fan of the Hunter but when they dug back in the catalog, it got real good.  Couldn't imagine a 1st Mastodon show being any more fun that that. :)

That was quite the show, I thought they killed it from my point of view.  By far the best of the 4 shows of them that I have seen, but to be fair all have been really good.  The pit was crazy huge, so I was glad to get over by Brent for their set.  To me the show was almost perfect as they only played a handful of Hunter songs and did a lot of the older songs, plus the MOTFA and B&T couple before the encore was awesome.  The guitar riff on MOTFA is incredible.  Can't wait for these guys to come back around as they never disappoint.

So yeah, to put it simply, we had a blast at Dead Confederate, J Roddy, and Deer Tick at the Brooklyn Bowl on NYE.  I know some others had some issues with the crowd but it was a J Roddy and Deer Tick NYE show.  I'm surprised there wasn't more belligerence.  Got to talk to both bands at various points throughout the night making an ass of myself as usual.  Punched J Roddy in the stomach and told him to not take his only stalker Asian fan for granted.  Hung out with fat Aziz Ansari outside.  Well, he was just some chunky Indian dude that looked like a fat Aziz Ansari so that's what I called him.

Per usual, my girlfriend ended up onstage dry humping MacCauley ;D

Oh yeah, at giventofly and Jrud doing their thang

HA, I love this picture! It looks as if Dan and J are really feeling the moment...  ;D

I was trying to erase the image of McCauley open-mouth kissing the dude behind/between me and Dan an inch from my face. Shit got a little crazy 'round midnight lol. Had a great time, I know DT was the headliner but right now it doesn't get any better than J. Roddy and the Business. Guys are out of control in the greatest way imaginable. It can't be overstated: this is a band that people NEED to see.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

I was feeling the moment... and the dozen drinks I had consumed at that point  ;D

Saw the Vaccines recently. Didn't really know them, a friend had an extra ticket so I went. It was okay I guess, but the songs were very simple and it was the shortest show I've ever been to (<45 mins). I dunno, the songs are very catchy and fun, but it's a typical festival band. Crowd went nuts. Don't think I will go to another show of them again, only if they play on a festival where I'm going or so.

Saw Dry the River last night at XOYO (London).

S O U N D G A R D E N  (twice).

I am soooooo over the moon. They played Gun, I Awake, Drawing Flies, Room A Thousand Years Wide, Jesus Christ Pose (I can't believe I have now seen Matt Cameron play JCP. If you told me when I was sixteen that they would get back together and I would actually see this live I would have laughed) etc. I still can't get over it.  We were right in front of Ben for the first show and he smiled at us a couple of times 'cause we were singing along to everything. On the second day we were on Kims side. And Chris said that once the new album is done they'll (hopefully) be back!!!!!

Omg you guys.  I never post in this thread, but Kathleen Edwards tonight....wow.  I don't love the new album, but she made me a believer.  And she closed with "Mercury" and a cover of "September Gurls".  I'm in love  :-*

Thanks MJK and Penny. It was a total bucket list moment.
ALady- Kathleen Edwards must have been awesome. I've always liked her voice but haven't heard much of her music.

weenie, her voice was just stunning.  I'm not super familiar with her music either, but the show made me want to pick up a few records!

Kathleen is fantastic. I got to see her at the famous Duck Room here in StLouis courtesy of BH...he's awesome like that. Her voice is stunning, he's gorgeous, and smells great (she stood next to Dave and I at one point watching the opener).

LEMONHEADS
Well, it was back in college in 1992 again. I was anxious about this show. The last 2 times Even has brought a full band he's played one of the casinos and maybe 20 people showed up at each show.....and he had meltdowns of epic proportions. Even is go talented, but such a prima donna spoiled brat sometimes and it showed in those meltdowns. Soooo, they took the stage about 35 minutes late. Started getting nervous. He ripped through half a dozen acoustic songs including Being Around and Outdoor Life. He sounded good and his guitar work sounded great. Less nervous....full band took the stage and they proceeded to blaze through It's A Shame About Ray in it's entirety. No breaks, no bs chit chat. Band left the stage for a sec and he tried to play Mrs Robinson and stopped after about 15 seconds and joked he just couldn't do that song without the band or something. They proceeded to play for another 45 minutes with very little break/gaps. He did several acoustic covers that most people had no idea what they were. Hell I didn't know any of them, but they sounded good. Closed with a great version of Style. Overall, it was great. I fully expected a meltdown and he was in a good mood, sounded great, and gave everyone the "hits" except Mrs Robinson and Into Your Arms. And I was ok with that.

And no hangover, even better.

Saw Michael Kiwanuka & Emeli Sande last week, both were excellent! (Michael even silenced the talkers)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Seriously thought whilst watching her, "I bet her hair smells amazing".

So jelly of your Lemonheads experience.  Glad you got a good one!

She smelled of sunshine and love with a subtle hint of horniness. Yes.

Show has gotten good reviews. most said the same thing as I did, expected a shit ton of drama and got 90 minutes of songs. He played over 30 songs. Damn....more then my moneys worth.

Ryan Adams. His attitude and pompousness ruined the show for me. Dude is grade a douche bag.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...
