My Morning Jacket 'recording 6th album'
My Morning Jacket have returned to the studio, according to frontman Jim James.
My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has revealed that the band is working on its sixth studio album.

Talking to BBC 6 Music, the singer confirmed that the Tennessee-based rock band have begun the earlier stages of recording new material.

"We're working on stuff but we're just trying to keep it real stress free, real low key. I'd say we're knocking around three or four songs but they're still pretty rough," he explained.

James also said My Morning Jacket could take some time to record their next album, as the band been touring so much over the past couple of years that they need to remember how to take time off and write new songs.

In addition, he told the broadcaster that his side project, Monsters of Folk, is likely to follow up their self-titled debut with another album, although he says he will not rush to make the record.

Excellent news. I was really hoping MoF would do another album. I need to see them again.

Spectacular news about a 6th album, but I am sensing a tour is not in the near future.  :-/

QuoteWhen did the band move to Tennessee?

Haha

If i remember correctly Evil Urges was made very quickly.  I could see them taking a whole year to record this album.

I think the Tennessee thing is code for the fact that Jim was bullshitting them the whole time about all of it.  :)

Knocking around 3 or 4 songs?

PLEASE mini tour OR EP with at least one!

I love hearing the backstory on the albums and look forward to hear which cave they find in what state to record the tracks and the trek they embark on to find the perfect studio to mix it all

Jim has his own studio in Louisville now.  I don't know for sure that's where they are recording, but I would assume so.

Is it in an underground bat cave? It has to have something folk loreish to it, ya know?

...ill take the trade off of no tour until at the earliest late 2010 if theyre already starting to record and there will be another MoF album. Very interested in how similar or different another MoF album would be to the debut.
