Is there somewhere close with a decent selection of draft brews?  Meg?  Anyone?

Edit: It looks like there's a Mellow Mushroom about a half mile away.  They always have a good selection of beer and their pizza is great if you're into that whole eating thing.

I can do MM if we get in town in time.  I know darkglow would probably prefer a  Buffalo Wild Wings, but that's another story.  :-X   ;D

Oh no you didn't!  ;D

Thanks mom for buying 7 tickets to this so we can have our first family trip to the jacket!

I'm heading down to this one from TN. I always need a reason to take off work in August. This is mine for this year. When would be the best time to line up to get up front in the pit? August in Tuscaloosa has got to be killer so I don't want to hang out there any longer than necessary.

There are lots of restaurants and bars Downtown--just a few blocks away from the Amphitheatre. My favorite bars are Gnemi's and Wilhagen's. Mellow Mushroom has some delicious noms, but I also suggest The Brickhouse Restaurant or DePalma's.

It is going to be hotter than hell in August. If you wanted to be front and center (like me, lol) I would say get in line like an hour or two before the show. That's what I am planning on doing, at least.

Less than 2 months away!

There is a researcher (I work at an archives) who came in today and she is a professor from Tuscaloosa. She's told me all about the destruction and the rebuilding and how she's still very emotional about everything. It's so interesting to hear, but I'm resisting the urge as a professional person to NOT be all  like: "Myfavoritestbandinthewholeworldisplayingabenefitshowandyoushouldgobecausethey'reaamaaaaaaazing!" ::)

Everyone, please come to this show. Not only do you get to see the greatest band in the world play in a brand-new, riverside amphitheatre but you get to help out the United Way of West AL--which has been vital in recovery efforts here in T-town.

I know some people may be thinking, "That storm was, like, 2 months ago, so it's fine by now." The sad thing is--it's not. I mean, we're working to rebuild, but there was so much devastation. I drove through my old neighborhood yesterday, and it looked as if the tornado had just come by a few days ago. There are still people displaced and looking for homes. It's awesome that we are rebuilding and moving toward a better tomorrow, but we still need all the help we can get.

So... buy some tickets. Come on down. Rock out. Forum peeps are welcome to stay at my place. Please come out and support Tuscaloosa! Love y'all.

Oh what the hell, I'm in!   ;D

Seriously, this is really awesome of the band.  I can say that their support for the United Way was without a doubt the determining factor in our decision to go.  Tuscaloosa is very dear to my wife's heart.  Both her and her father went to school at UA.  Her mother and grandmother were raised and grew up there (Northport).

Thanks, I am hoping that I can talk my husband into getting there early. He hates the heat and really doesn't get into going to shows like I do. I think if I can convince him to drop me off and then I'll meet him later. I still haven't told him that I bought standing room only tickets. Oops.  ::) I'm glad the show is a benefit for the tornado relief efforts. I've got friends in UA (Upper Alabama) whose kids' entire school blew away. They ended up canceling school for the rest of the year. It still looks like a warzone just one neighborhood over from where she lives. It will take a long time for recovery for this state.

I'm in too! Well, I bought a ticket anyway. Hope I can make it, and if I do I'll see you at the front of the line, Meg!

as heard in my head upon first glance:

Come gather 'round Jacketeers
From wherever you call home
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched like a snow cone
If your money is wastin' in savings
So you better be spendin'
Or you'll sink like a Pakistani drone
For the band it is a comin' to Tuscaloosaaa ... ::)

Where to Begin would be too perfect at this bitter sweet (but sweeter than bitter) river-front ritual. If the powers that be are listening, those in the Tuscaloosa region could really use this song come August.

My head takes a lickin' but my heart keeps on tickin' just the same
Always startin' over, but somehow I always know where to begin

I agree. If they play "Where to Begin," I'll be the redhead on the rail that's crying like a baby.

Tuscaloosa will rise again! This is going to be an epic show! This will be my fourth show and I cant wait. Still just as excited as my first time. Greetings from New Orleans everybody!

This will be my first MMJ show! I was going to the Atlanta show but I checked the forum one day and saw the rumor thread about a Tuscaloosa show and decided to hold out. I'm in Birmingham so TTown is a lot closer than Atlanta for me.

My friend at work and I think 10 other people are going so we're showing up waaaaayyy early and tailgating this thing! We're raising the Circuital flag and grilling out and playing MMJ!

Freaking sweet!

No shame in that  ;D! Posters these days are becoming bank-breakers.

I really hope they keep throwing these setlist change-ups come final leg of the tour too!
