Ok, so we are getting close to August and the Roll Call for the Merriweather Post Show is awesome (although we are missing some good forum peeps!).  Time to start planning the pre-show tailgate party. Not sure if I missed anything in the MP Roll Call thread but it may be time to plan a party in the parking lot.

I know a bunch of us are staying local at the Sheraton next door to MPP but I think we need to start planning a killer pre-show party.  Suggestions?

I'll bring the Grey Goose.

Just a heads up...while the Sheraton is the closest hotel to MPP and walkable, it's still a good 10 -15 minute walk. Probably about what McGees was to T5 ;)

reading this made me realize that i haven't tailgated at MPP in like 10 years. yikes. i think i was 17 or 18.

TSarge

Wish I was coming to this show... My tailgate when MMJ played there last year was a blast.

For anybody else not going, my friend's band Chamberlin is playing in New Jersey that night!

Just keep us up to date on which lot you guys are going to have your tailgate in.  I figure we'll be in the lot by 4 with some cornhole and whatnot.  Do we know yet when Neko comes on?

It's the "whatnot" that I look forward to.  Definitely looking forward to Neko's set.  She is awesome.

We could do a pre-party party at the Sheraton and a real party at the MPP parking lot.  Post party back at the Sheraton.

Will either take a half day or the whole day. Will bring Ketel One and cranberry juice. Hee hee. What time did we start last year? 3:00? I went to the gate with Sass/ALady about 5:30(?) in order to get in the front and it worked out well. We took drinks to the gate, so we'll have a portable tailgate if needed. So excited to see you all.

I think we showed up to the JD Bartender set up around 3:30 or 4.  Our location last year was totally fine, though I might go a little closer this time.   I remember prior to the show last year, there was a whole lot of chatter about the strictness of the parking lot, but we were fine.

Is JD going this year? Has anyone heard from him?

Bob and I will bring our tailgating tent.   Last year JD did an awesome cookout, with a whole portable grill thingy.  I am definitely not that ambitious, so will probably bring some sandwiches, snacks & drinks.  The tent is green, and hopefully Bluesky will bring her flag, so that y'all can find us.

We will be heading down on Friday morning, check in around 3pm (we were able to check in a little earlier last year).  As soon as we get situated, we will head over to the lot, probably around 4 ish, if all goes according to plan.

This will be such a special occasion for us, as it is the return to the place where we first met SO many of you awesome kids.  Cannot wait!

We'll be doing the same Trish. I remember being able to check in a little earlier last year too. I think I might get down there a bit earlier and swing by the venue before checking in, and pick up my tix. MPP has two box offices. The West one opens @ 10:00 am day of shows,(hopefully that has a will call) and the other (South inside) opens two hrs. before doors. I'd love to have my tix in hand before the parties start.  ;)

edit: West box office does have a will call, and tix can be picked up there on day of show from 10:00am on.

You know this show is going to be something special again. I mean how can it not be?  We'll have a helluva forum turnout, and MPP's got not one, but two threads!!  That's gotta mean something good. ;)

You just referenced the Canyonero in an MMJ thread. Therefore, by the transitive property (not even sure what that means) you are awesome.  ;D

So here's my contribution. I better not see any healthy food at this tailgate:
