Yeah, it seems when they put "Run Thru" on a setlist these days, they mean "(end of) Run Thru".  Great list - IB4U, PWW, Anytime, Dondante, Movin' Away (rare this tour) - but no  :o
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

That's what I was thinking, I have 5 set lists from this year that say run thru (not end of) and none were full length
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

PWW into Wonderful...OUCH!!  :)

Well the recording of this show is awesome.  I haven't listened to an audience recording in a while, I love how intamate it is, really captures the crowd interaction.  Wordless and OBH ruled.  One of the best Golden's ever.  Reallly all the songs were played at 11 for this show.

There's Still Time.........

wish i wouldn't have ever seen the full setlist...tuscaloosa was great...atlanta ranks up there with t5...i think after this setlist i might have thought that about charlotte...rained really screwed the time up...wonderful weekend though...three shows were awesome...front and center at all three shows.got 2 setlists, drumstick, and a fist pump from jim in charlotte after i'm pretty sure he recognized me from being at all three shows and the atl soundcheck...tom definitely recognized me...especially at charlotte. pretty cool stuff...longer review to come

mlbrady89

wish i hadnt seen that original setlist. thats rough. i know they felt bad about it, and maybe theyll keep us in mind for something cool. Patrick tweeted some form of an apology which was really nice. GD this would happen to Charlotte. energy was high though
sometimes you'll see a strange spot in the sky, A human being that was given to fly.

Eh.. I'm not bummed about seeing the original set... I'm glad to see it wasn't going to be a show without some special stuff. Phone Went West would have been sweeeeet.

But you have to imagine something toward the end would have been cut anyway.

Clarkwork

I was disappointed, not in the band, just the fact it was a short show.  I only get to see them once every few years so was a bit of a let down.  But, again stuff the band can't control, only thing I would do in the future is not play a venue with a curfew.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

Ajay

I guess the thing to do is maybe avoid places with a curfew and that would be prone to storms.  So if they were indoors, it shouldn't matter.

This is a rare occurrence guys.. really. That little amphitheatre is quite popular, it holds around 5,000 and just remember that MMJ had not been to Charlotte in 8-10 years. It wasn't until we got a venue of this size that we could get MMJ here.  So if you put no curfew and no outdoor places, it's likely that MMJ never comes to Charlotte again unless they start playing big arenas. I can live with the risk.

As someone else has said above or in the other Charlotte thread, there's union rules that affect a lot of this stuff relating to curfew, working conditions, etc. It's frustrating, but there's no perfect answer.

As I've said, MMJ was back in Charlotte after a long hiatus and I was there for their triumphant return. I know that no one in the bands camp can make us any promises, but I do hope that they witnessed enough demand to come back on a regular basis. That would be enough for me.

Not knocking on the venue -- I for one really liked the place.  Not huge like the one in Raleigh, so you get more of a quaint feel.  Also I like that it's not in the middle of a field (again comparing to Raleigh).  And the parking is free (again comparing to Raleigh).  And there's a few bars around (again comparing to Raleigh.)

Can you tell which ampitheatre I prefer...the one in Charlotte or the one in Raleigh? ;-)

I didn't mean to imply you didn't like the venue. Just saying that it filled a void for Charlotte music relative to its size, and there are few alternatives locally. It's gotten a welcome reception from the community, so it's been successful. My point is that with a facility like this, coupled with the turnout the band got at this venue, MMJ will probably be back.. but I can't conceive there's a facility that will fit them unless they play bigger venues like our 20,000 seat (or so) basketball arena or the 18,000 capacity Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre near the speedway.

According to the MMJ setlist archive, they were here only once before -

2003-04-25 CityFest Live! - Charlotte, NC

And that was a big outdoor festival. I don't think it will be that long before they return.

I think this show would have been great at the Ovens Auditorium.  Saw the Pixies there a few month ago at was a great place.

NSLrecordings

Ovens auditorium barely holds 1,000 people.  TWC Amphitheatre holds around 6,000 and it was sold out if not extremely close to it.

The Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC is the perfect place for them to play.

There, I said it.

Robbman

I heard the Uptown Amphitheatre only holds 5,000... Bojangles might be possible, but it holds around 8,000 and might be too expensive for a promoter. Then again, maybe they could get that many. If this show sold out, it seems they should give it a shot for the next one. The acoustics in that building aren't the best, but it could work.

Another source up on Archive.org. I haven't listened to it yet. It's in the show taping thread, and I've linked to that post below -

I have to go with NSL's as the best source. I'm no audiophile, but it sounds the best to me. Seems to have a little more bass in it than Hadella's source. Hadella's isn't bad and it might just be microphone position.

Either way, thanks to both for taping and sharing.
