Color Vinyl

As I am new to vinyl, I wanted to get some experienced opinions on whether color vinyl is truly inferior to black vinyl in the area sound quality. I've heard arguments on both sides and wanted to hear your alls thoughts.

I don't think there's much of a difference, unless it's 180 gram witch sounds the best.

Man, it took forever to find this post, but Crispy provided some solid intel on the subject.  Seems audio fidelity may take a backseat to collectibility with colored vinyl.  Definitely the case with picture discs, imo.

What about colored vinyl vs. black?  I'm guessing less of an issue.

There is debate about colored vinyl too. The process begins with clear PVC, then carbon black is added to strengthen the disc (necessary in the old days), and supposedly contains an "agent" to smooth the stylus's travel through the grooves. Apparently colored vinyl lacks this, though I wonder if this is still true. More useless but interesting info

My experience is that black vinyl sounds best.

Colored vinyl is cool and collectible but is often (but not always) inferior as to sound quality.

When done right, I find that clear vinyl sounds as good as any black vinyl.

Black is better sounding in my experience. Alot of my colored vinyl sound good, but I've also heard that it's not quite as durable as black. Always heard wine red is a good sounding and durable option.

I've yet to encounter a great sounding picture disc.
