I've listened to my fair share of MMJ bootlegs, and been to 6 shows myself now. But I have to say, the Raleigh bootleg is simply remarkable. I saw them in Alpharetta on 8/24 and thought it was the possibly best show I've ever seen. Still waiting for a recording if one exists (anyone... anyone...). That show was just full of so much energy and they tore it up. But Raleigh is more of a slow boiler... definitely more of an exploration. Victory Dance and Dondante are real highlights, as is Phone Went West. The recording is really fantastic too.

Was this show as great in person as it sounds?

No doubt, it was THAT good. And I agree ... NSLrecordings is to be thanked many times for a flawless taping (and for Charlotte's too).

wuz there and it was great.  The pit crowd was awesome and to get started off with the Rollin Back opener was top notch.

I completely agree on Dondante and the PWW.  The jam on Dondante with the start/stop drum guitar part is badass.  Plus, Evelyn and Death Is the Easy Way back to back.  We were Carl side and he was going bananas on It's About Twilight Now.  Some don't care for Librarian but I thought it was a perfect compliment b/t the two main jams (Dondante and PWW).

i almost missed seeing a single show on this tour b/c of obligations, but decided on Thursday I was going and was able to wrangle up a couple of peeps and just drive from VA Beach that day and come back that night (6+ hours roundtrip).  So glad.

thank you NSL.

Librarian not usually my fave either, but they played it with a little more swing then usual. It was placed a little odd between Dondante and PPW though.

This is one great taping. Thanks so much NSL!

I was there as well along with Sassbox and a few others on here (Peter I don't remember your forum name), and I agree that the show was very special.  Seemed like a perfect finale to that leg of the SCS tour.  It was awesome as well that even that late in the tour they were pulling out new songs (I think that show was the first Death is the Easy Way).

Rollin' Back is a fantastic opener, and there was something very special about Dondante and PWW that night.  Then throw in there Evelyn, Twilight, Touch Me Part 1, and a sick Isn't It a Pity, among others.  Yowza.

Also agree that the recording is great.  Cheers to NSL for your badass skills.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

one of my favorite memories of the show was the train coming through during one of the songs and you can hear the train whistle on the recording.

I'll add that one to the list of things you miss at shows due to being on the rail.

This was only my 3rd show, but I've listened to a ton of them, and it felt pretty special at the time. Listening to the show probably at least 7-10 times since then, and I like it even more now.  The train (during DITEW maybe?) was perfect, just this lonesome sound in the night that fit the whole environment.

Charlotte the night before was faster paced and maybe a little more frenzied.  It was cool too, just in a different way.  Raleigh was more of a slow burn.
