Guild Guitars

Anyone want to encourage or discourage me from purchasing a 1978 Guild acoustic Guitar.  Its about 800 dollars and plays like a gem, but it has some wear and tear and i haven't plugged it in to see if it holds a good acoustic sound through an amp.  I will definitely have to try it with an amp before i purchase.   I originally went to the store to look at a Taylor 814ce but this one spoke to me.  My heart was fluttering for about two hours afterwards.  My family is encouraging me to not spend the money but its sound and feel has me mesmerized.   any comments or knowledge is encouraged!

Guild, Gibson, Taylor, Martin, Larrivee - all the high-end guitar brands are great. If you love the Guild, get it. Check first regarding other used Guilds from that era for price comparison.
