Is Jim having an opener each night of the tour?  I'd like to see just him, since it would allow him to play more tunes.

However, these openers would make me freak!
Carl (I would love to see him solo sometime)
Floating Action (I feel like this is a real possibility, and it would rock!)
Dr. Dog (Highly Unlikely, but they are connected with the band so maybe )

Of Course!  I couldn't agree more.  I would be surprised if he opened for all of the shows though.

Seeing Carl rock it with Jim on the encore would be great!

I feel like the show in Columbus will be the closest I will get to seeing MMJ this year.  I'm still holding out for a festival announcement or a hometown show though... Only time will tell.

I really hope it is Carl, but I would say there is definately going to be an opener for the shows.
Alive or Just Breathing

Sheets Of Clay

I don't think it's Carl. His presence in the encore at the Nashville show clearly messed up whatever arrangements Jim's band had learned during rehearsals. If the plan for the tour was Carl opening and then coming back for an MMJ encore, then Jim's band would have rehearsed with him when they were learning the MMJ songs.

I really, really hope it is Carl, but I doubt it.

There almost has to be an opener, or the shows are going to be very very short.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

or we could be getting a lot more covers/acoustic jacket stuff than we're expecting. it'd be really cool to see an actual "solo" aspect to the shows.  he could play the album with the band and then play for an hour or so by himself and i'd be just fine with that.  i'm sure others would, too.
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

Carl would be a treat. His performance Fri night was amazing.

I would also very much welcome Floating Action as well. Surely we'll hear something soon.

I thought New Multitudes was going to be short, but they each played 3 or 4 songs of their own after the album. Jim has plenty of stuff to fill time if he wants. I am not sure one can predict the tour by the show in Nashville.

e_wind

New multitudes is 4 people, Jim is one. While I would love for Jim to play for 1.5 hours after they play the album, I don't think it's gonna happen. He's promoting an album, so that should have some sort of focus of the show.

I don't know what's going to happen, but if he has openers, I really hope some of the dates or all of the dates are Carl. Everyone needs to get that treat. If he doesn't have openers, I'll be completely happy about that too.  I wonder how much different it is for him to tour as a solo artist than as the leader of MMJ. Does/will it take more of a toll on his voice? Since he sings everything with Jacket, I don't imagine there's a big difference, but there might be a bigger difference on his stamina since he's got to carry the entire show himself. That might factor into how long the shows are.

Exactly. Jim can play for hours, I've seen him do it before with the band!

this is what I expect (and hope) will happen.  I'd be shocked if his sets on this tour were as short as they were in Nashville. Kind of think that was a warm up for his band on the new material, and fully expect to see a lot more of Jim playing solo/acoustic for the main tour.

Very possible...considering Ratterman said they'd been playing together for only 8 days.

The Louisville show says that it is approximately 2 and a half hours.  I wonder if this is including the opening act?  If so, then the show will typically be the same length as the one in Nashville right?

I hope he plays longer though.  I am driving out of state to see the man!

Never heard of them, but she has an amazing voice, almost Amy Winehouse-esque.

zanjam

Never heard of them but I dig them.  Definitely a soulful Amy Winehouse vocal with a bit of Brittany/Alabama Shakes sprinkled in.  Nice sound.
anything + reverb always = better

She is amazing... Super excited to see her! Nice pick Jim!

She is a goddamn believer.
