No one has mentioned Phoenix! Bankrupt is better than the press would have you believe, but nothing could follow up WAP...

Is Jai Paul too Pitchfork-y for this thread? The "leak" of his "demos" is one of the best pop albums  to come out in...                      ever (esp. if you like rhye/hipster r&B)...

Where can I find the Houndmouth album?  Based on your posting I looked into them and really like the 2012 EP but can't find From The Hills anywhere.

I was unaware that Oistheones was a big fan of double penetration.

I streamed some of the new Natalie Maines record yesterday and it might be the surprise of the year for me.  Wasn't ever a big fan of hers, but I was intrigued to hear her cover of Jeff Buckley's "Lover You Should've Come Over" and it is fantastic.  She also covers Floyd "Mother", the Jayhawks "I'd Run Away" and a Patty Griffin tune.

Speaking of Jeff Buckley, the two disc deluxe edition of Live at Sin-e has really been kicking my butt lately.  Not a 2013 album, but it has some brilliant covers as well, including three Dylan songs.  A very intimate recording, just Jeff and his guitar in a little cafe with lots of banter.  A window into his soul.

Forgot to add Charles Bradley's "Victim of Love" ...it's my album of the year so far

Charles Bradley - Love bug blues, 2013.

Forgot to mention Ben Harper produced it and he and his band are the backing band.
