He did that in Atlanta too. Like 4 times. It was a little bizarre.

From what I can tell, he did it the entire tour. He must have been amused by it or he didn't really want to come up with any off the cuff stage banter or he didn't really enjoy playing in the daylight. Who knows with Jim.
