I'd be thrilled to get to see a set from Band of Horses at Forecastle!!

None of the headliners appeal to me so I am banking on 6-7 good bands I like playing earlier in the night each night. I'd be ok with that. And I'd go see Beck or Outkast or Modest Mouse but none of them excite me...

you saying' BoH is Forecastle headline material?
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Fully

If The Lumineers and Alabama Shakes are headlining or have headlined festivals, BOH can do it too. Although I'll say that neither of the bands I've mentioned have produced enough material for me to consider them headliners. At least BoH has several albums out-even though I don't enjoy their shows. I find them boring and I've been pretty clear about that, so I won't continue bashing them.

I didn't say they were Headliner material, I just said I'd be way more excited to see them than I would Beck or Outkast. That's why I said i'm counting on 6-7 bands I like playing earlier in the day, because that would be enough to get me to Forecastle this year. I live in Louisville and didn't even go last year.

I have only seen BoH once and it was opening for MMJ. I like them a lot. I hope they do come to Forecastle!

LBSUNFLWR

also very much hoping not to see the lumineers or Alabama Shakes on the list.

God I hope BOH is not the 3rd headliner.  I would be excited to see them, just not in that coveted headlining spot.  MMJ and String Cheese Incident have spoiled me as far as headliners are concerned at Forecastle.

Agree.  I also think Outkast-Beck-BOH would be a very unbalanced headlining cast.  Need to rock it up a bit.

I think it's safe to say MMJ will not be at Forecastle this year.

HOWEVER, according to Insider Louisville, the festival was hoping to land both Pearl Jam and Outkast as headliners. Obviously PJ would be a gigantic get, and would bring the festival a ton of mainstream awareness. I had thought that PJ would be a bitttt too big for Forecastle, but maybe this is the year they prove me wrong? Also, I believe it's been about 20 years since PJ last played Louisville.

Here is the quote and link to the article:

QuoteSpeaking of music, we hear Forecastle Festival organizers are hoping to land Pearl Jam and OutKast for this year's three-day event. The announcement of the 2014 lineup will come Tuesday, March 4. Why is this in our news roundup? Well, Forecastle is as big an economic-development boost as most conventions.

Great find, this could be enough to get me there if the bands I'm somewhat interested in fall on the same day as PJ.

Other than Pearl Jam, the lineup still isn't very loud though.

I think the question of what Forecastle can handle (in terms of crowd size vs venue real estate) is incredibly valid once you start throwing out names like Pearl Jam and OutKast.  It doesn't feel like that sort of festival to me, but I could be wrong...

They just need to set a limit to the amount of tickets they will sell.  I hope I can move from one place to the next.

If I had to guess, Outkast would play Friday, PJ Saturday, and Beck Sunday.

PJ would bring a whole different crowd altogether, ones who would pay for festival tickets JUST to see them. I believe in past years the festival has sold about 30,000 tickets. I don't doubt that PJ could sell 30K on their own. PJ is also notorious for being very picky with which festivals they play after what happened at Roskilde. All reasons why I'm taking this rumor with a couple shakers full of salt.

johnnYYac

Never seen Pearl Jam.  Seems a mighty big secret to keep.  We'll find out on Tuesday.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I've been wanting to see PJ live, but I also feel like their albums are very hit and miss.

Seeing a Pearl Jam show is something every music fan must do at least once in their life, even if you absolutely detest their albums.

God dammit, now I've got myself all jacked up for Pearl Jam at Forecastle. Need to talk myself down from this possibility.

APR

I don't see PJ playing in the US so soon after their Europe tour ends.  They usually take a little time off between legs.  I read a rumor of Toronto in May.  I wouldn't be surprised if they tour in the fall.

I agree that everyone who is a music fan should see PJ in person.  I've never seen them at a festival so the vibe is probably different compared to a standard show.

I'm looking forward to the Forecastle announcement as it will help me figure out which fest to attend this year.

Joshoeuh

I've seen Pearl Jam three times, one being at a festival. It's a special experience either way. They pull out more hits for festivals so if you want more album tracks, it's not the best setting to see them.

I would love to see PJ again, but I don't see this rumor panning out.

e_wind

Yeah I don't buy the PJ rumor, but that would literally by my number one request for the line up.
