The strained voice might have something to do with the abbreviated Run Thru. He also makes goofy noises to cover up that his voice isn't in peak condition. The only recording of SST that I like is an acoustic one from a radio appearance somewhere in Europe back at the end of the Corcuital your. It's not my favorite live, but I can appreciate it more after hearing that version.

I think his voice was fantastic, compare Red rocks Rocket man to OBH rocket man and you can obviously hear Jim hitting the notes he didn't at Red Rocks,  with that said i did notice his voiced became more and more strained every show (mine was gone the first night), but the cracking in his voice is beautiful because he still left it all out there.

Ok. I'm not really interested in arguing with you about this. We'll disagree. I don't know how many taped shows you've listened to of theirs, but one of the things I like about Jim's voice is that it isn't perfect. It's angelic at times and when it is, it's sublime, but there are plenty of times when his voice just can't quite do what he wants it to do. Yet he still puts his heart into it. That's one of the things I like about his voice. But now I've strayed off topic about OBH downloads.

One music writer referred to the occasional crack in his voice and said "I'll take passion over pitch any day", or something along those lines. I think they were referring to New Life on his solo release. I agree.

Was just listening to one of Bob's versus in "You Never Can Tell." OMG he's like "They went down to mumble mumble mumble anniversary."  So funny; maybe he needed Wayne Coyne with some cue cards?

I can provide some cool cd artwork if someone has extra codes they aren't going to use.

he definitely didn't know the lyrics!

I do find the topic of the emotional connection this band creates incredibly fascinating, to be serious for a minute.  There are probably existing threads that cover that topic, huh?  Just reading about how people reacted to some of the songs during OBH makes me all the more in awe of this aspect of their music.

Hope you enjoy. I was lucky enough that my wife bought me +1 a ticket. My friend enjoyed the show, but wouldn't appreciate the download enough so I thought I'd put it on here instead. Time to start working on the wife for tickets next year!!

I still listen to these frequently. At least once a week if not more. Even with Jim's voice not being what it usually is they are still a treat. That version of Rider is one of the greatest things ever and we are all seriously lucky that it was recorded.
