The 'Hard Luck Woman' cover is killer! Thanks for posting these.

BH

I have not done a direct comparison, but if I remember right, these sound much better than the tracks that were previously available.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

thanks for the heads-up, bh. that first recording left something to be desired.

"the sound quality of this recording is as good as a professionally released live album. It's actually a matrix of two audience recordings and a soundboard recording. So, you get the clarity of the soundboard with the better mix and overall atmosphere of the audience recordings."

I can't decide if these tracks should be included on the covers comp.  any opinions?

I would say no based on the fact that this was not a MMJ performance.

I kinda think yes because Jim is a prominent voice on these tracks. If he were just strumming guitar or playing onmichord, I'd say no.
RealDeal has a good point but Jim solo shows are included in the comp so it's sort of the same story...

yeah, but if I let them in then the question will be: what about the tracks the Jim plays on other people's recordings like One Life Away?  The line has to be drawn somewhere. I can't decide where though.  any other opinions?

BH

Well, I say yes.  We included Jim with Wilco right?  Or was that the whole band with Wilco?

Yeah, that was definitely in a gray area.  that song was jim, tom, and pat and it was included.

BH

Just realized I said "We included" as if I had something to do with it! ::)  Sorry...

I think the real question is: Are they worth bending the "rules" for?

I say yes.
