Nice, I dig it after one listen...

I will need to hear it a few more times to get a better sense of it. I wonder if they just put this one together over the last few days or did they have this sort of laying around or some version near it and then decided to release in light of recent events...I wonder, oh boy do i ever wonder i wonder who wrote the book of love still today

I just wish it were for sale, so we could download it. I don't usually listen to music on the Interweb (Soundcloud). I like to have my own copy of things.

MMJ's Statement:

violence is never the answer.
only love.
we all need to be a part of the discussion.
part of the solution.
how long will it take before we realize-
we are all the same.
this is not idealistic dreaming.
this is a fact-
we all want only to love and be loved.
to nuture and protect those we love.

hate comes from the illusion that we are separate and cut off from
one another by factors like race and religion but this simply is not true.

it does not matter your race/creed/sexual orientation we are all filled with the same beautiful blood- a mix of old and new generations... past present and future...we are all in there somewhere...in the blood lines together...all of humanity.

a beautiful mix of male and female and all the colors rolled up into this wonderful gift we call life. a gift that should be celebrated like the beautiful rainbow that it is- not riddled by bullets and cut to pieces spilling and wasting that precious blood.

I don't pretend to think that a song can fix or change the world instantly, and I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of the political landscape and proper gun control legislation-
BUT if we say nothing then nothing will ever change.
and things have got to change.

so maybe if we all sing out-
if we all speak out- for peace. for equality. for justice. for an end to the violence...then perhaps we can together change the world for the better-
create a world of true peace, love, and acceptance where our differences are celebrated because we realize they are in fact all just shades of the same wondrous human rainbow.

dare to dream. dreams can come true.

no one said it better than Dr. King:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." here is a wish from us to you for peace, love, understanding, and an end to the violence.

we hope you enjoy this song that basically says
there can be a solution...
but none of us can do it alone.
we have to get together.

peace and love,
my morning jacket

Does anyone else hear a little influence of Prince "Sign of the Times"? Even the ending of both have their guitar freakouts. Really enjoy this song and appreciate their sentiment.
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

Unfortunately, this is the way things are going. Artists can control piracy a lot easier by not making digital copies available in the first place. We're back to the equivalent of taping radio songs, which means the quality takes a hit. It's truly sad.

But how would they make any money streaming only? By subscription to the streaming service?

I hear a SHITLOAD of Prince in this song (not necessarily a bad thing).  I wouldn't want more than one song in this style on the new album, but I like it for one song.

Yep, every year streaming subscriptions increase, as well as revenue from ad supported "free" streams. Kids don't care about ownership anymore, they just care about being able to access it anywhere.

I'm not saying that's what's happening in this case. MMJ has been very good about having downloads available for people who want to pay for them. I think that they just wanted to get this out there as fast as possible considering the timeliness of the situation.

Yeah that was the first thing I thought of when I heard it.

I thought the song sounded like Prince too.  I wonder when the band was together to write and record this song.   I'm glad they put this out as any new MMJ is a positive including this song and its message.  It would be cool if they played it live!

Is it too far-fetched to think that MMJ might materialize at the NFF Friday afterparty and play this?
Heck, look at what happened last year.

Jbpats

This tune rules, funky and dark at the same time.
It's a shame it wasn't released pre red rocks, I could only imagine how it comes across live.
