does anyone know where my morning jacket came from?
whats the story?

MMJ_fanatic

if I remember right Jim saw a robe with the monogram MMJ of the breast area and thought of My Morning Jacket immediately
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

EC

Oh crap, let me check.  Isn't it on a record somewhere in the liner notes?

Damnit.  It's very frustrating to not remember something that you know you know.

Screw it.  Too much wine.  Riny will know!!!

I think I read something on the Nashville to Kentucky website. Haven't got time to check now but will later.

CC

they tell me a different story everytime! but yeah, one is about walking into some burned out building and finding a robe with the initials mmj. I think you'll find other stories in the press section. I remember one involving a slippery bathtub. just pick your favourite I guess ;D

I am partial to the story of the robe cuz after all, isn't a robe nothing more than a Morning Jacket? ;)

I think it's awesome to name your band "My Morning Jacket". I feal as though everyone has thier "My Morning Jacket", I think Jim's is the band.

"It wasn't till I woke up that I could hold down a joke or a job or a dream" - Jim James

The name has so many possibilities especially when you hold it up against the lyric content of the albums.  You could come up with a hundred explinations and they would all make sense.

Woah.  Those are some hot pictures.  I might need to post a couple in the favourite picture section.

I'm really glad I took the day off so that I could spend some quality time with my guitar.  I'm gonna go and make more coffee, and then sit and read inspiring articles about bands that I love, and then I'm gonna jam.

AND it's sunny out.  yee haw.

MMJ_fanatic

the best part: " I want to sound like I'm on Mars--reverb all over"

ALL BOW TO THE MIGHTY REVERB  :D!

peanut butter puddin surprise

One early Kentucky morning, the phone rang and a voice told Jim to get "his morning jacket and run thru the ghetto at dawn before the tennessee fire causes strangulation because i needed it most as i'm an honest man"... ;)

Good work!!!  :)

better yet, it came from the aliens, high on reverb, who decided to land in Lexington, KY.  they found jim and forced him to sing in an echo chamber to keep their killer reverb buzz going.  they released him when they realized his voice was too beautiful for him to be a prisoner...
