Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was browsing www.earx-tacy.com and it looks like that on August 16 a six-song mini-soundtrack (touted as an "Indie Store Exclusive") will be released with Crowe donating a dollar from each CD purchase to the Center For Women and Families In Louisville (ear-x-tacy is actually going to match that for every purchase in their store).

MMJ shows up once:

1. Nancy Wilson - "Same In Any Lingo"
2. Elvis Presley - "Kentucky Rain"
3. My Morning Jacket - "I Will Be There When You Die (Live)"
4. Patty Griffin - "Long Ride Home"
5. Bill Monroe - "Blue Moon Of Kentucky"
6. Sun Kil Moon - "Kentucky Woman"

August 16th.

Anyone going to pick it up?

Que paso hardhelmet! I sure am planning on it. I'm too lazy to borrow my bro's car to drive out to Long Island but I think most of those stores where it's available have online ordering. So if you live outside the states even, you shouldn't have a prob ordering your copy. Woo Hoo! Wow, Elvis, Kozelek and the Jacket on the same disc, Ni-ice!!!

sweatboard

My record store already has me the vinyl and cd reserved.  Thanks for the track listing.  I'm sure I probably already have the version of "I Will Be There When You Die" but it's for a good cause so I'll go ahead and get it.  Plus the other artists aren't to shabby.
There's Still Time.........

McGuire

Can this be ordered online somewhere? Looks sweet.
All right, all right I'll ask her. Miss, miss! Do you know where the high school girls hang out around here? What? What? That's right, I'm the asshole! I'm the asshole!

Anyone know why it's called The Brown Hotel?

aMillionDreams

They filmed scenes of the movie at the Brown Hotel in Louisville.  Famous for the invention of the 'Hot Brown'.  I'm pretty sure the ballroom scene with the giant bird is from inside the Brown.

Where is the Brown Hotel?  Also, what is a "Hot Brown"?

It must be really cool for you Kentuckians to know that you'll go get to see a movie where a lot of the places in your town will be there.  AND Patrick playing keboards.  It's all too  much.  ;)

aMillionDreams

it IS too much.  The Brown Hotel is on the corner of Fourth Street and Broadway.  About a block from the Palace and three blocks from 4th ST Live in downtown.  A 'Hot Brown' is an open-face turkey sandwich with Bacon, a special sauce, and cheese.  Here's a link to the Brown Hotel's own recipe:

Thanks aMillionDreams.  I remember 4th and Broadway.  Actually, is it a fancier hotel?  I think we might've got directions to the Rud from one of the chefs who was leaving work...

aMillionDreams

no prob.  it is definately on the fancier side of things as far as Hotels are concerned.  I was down there one day when they were filming but it was just a bunch of teeny-boppers staring at the side of the building, hoping to catch a glimpse of Orlando Bloom.

i'm so excited for all you louisville folks.
i remember when they filmed dazed and confused here in austin. i was still a kid, but it's in my parent's neighborhood. and now when i watch the movie, i spot all these things i know.

Dazed and confused is quite possibly the best movie of all time.  We used to quote the entire movie all through college--there were a few of us that seriously new every single line.

Anyway, the line up in that is insane--Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Jason London, McCaughnehy (spelling error).

So, have you been out to where the moontower is?

love that movie.
i have definitely been to several moontowers, for a few of them still stand in austin. not sure if it was THE moontower they partied at, but it could have been. but the place where they play pool and where ben affleck gets paint dumped on him, all right near my childhood home. i drive by them frequently. :)

aMillionDreams

well, I got it.  It's really good.  I was not familar with this version of 'I Will Be There When You Die'.  Very quality!  Makes me wonder if it won't be in the movie.

The disc has a CD-ROM component to it.  For some reason I can't get it to work. As a matter of fact, I can't get the CD to play on my computer without it horribly skipping.  And the website the disc gives for technical support doesn't exist.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Wooderson: That's what I like about these high school girls, I keep getting older, they stay the same age.

Love that movie! I have the coolest Slater T-shirt that I picked up in a stoner store in Hawaii.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.
