I finally got myself an Ipod Touch and have been able to load in all of my MMJ stuff except for Z.

What do I need to do? :'(

You need a magic marker

Or a different copy of the disc

There's a way, I forgot what it was.  I think it was hold down shift, before you insert the disc.  Try a search on Sony CD copyright protection.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

be ready for some adware/malware though.  if you haven't already imported it.

If this truly is an old Sony DRM/rootkit issue, I think the thing to do was to take a magic marker (black) and draw a circle around the outer edge of the CD

Do not take this as official advice, but you can google this. It was a huge deal back in the day.

It's worse than adware.  It's a fucking rootkit, which is permanently installed on your system.  Rootkits are designed to hide themselves from your system.  So there's no real way to uninstall it besides formatting your drive and reinstalling your OS.  The patch on the court settlement's website supposedly only disables the programs contained in the rootkit.

That was one fucked up thing Sony decided to do.

Holding down shift when you enter the CD should disable the autorun for your CD-ROM drive.  But if I were you, I'd look for a clean version of Z and not even risk it.

the band burnt copies of Z and sent them disgruntled fans. They also released a statement of apology. I don't think Sony ever did though.

Sony did. It was in the form of a "Cease and Desist" and "we're suing your ass".

When the band did that, it took the final step in my book from "just a band" to "the band". That step that only is obtained when bands make philosophical decisions that either push  them into ultimate awesome status or "I'll still listen, but they're a bunch of dicks" status. Their first step was their disavowing of Aspen Edge.

I drank a six pack of Aspen Edge for the sole reason that they used the song. Totally forgot about that. I still think it kicked a$$ when I heard the commercial and was like, this sounds alot like...wait this is...Holy $hit!
