Quoteyeah its about what I expected...a side project..nothing special.

Your already judging one day after three songs from the album are released? :-/

doesn't this argument swing both ways?

Of course it does.  I just said I liked the songs.  Sue me.    It just seems like some people were going to make up their minds before this even came out based on their dislike of Conor.  Which is crazy.  Brakeman.... is really just a great M. song and if you don't like Dear God, you aren't going to like much of what Jim is going to come up with in the near future, I can tell you that.

I'm liking Dear God so far, but I hope Jim saves this style for the side projects. MMJ should be more about the rock.

I agree 100%.  I love the diversity but I'd love to get a big rock record next.  I don't see them doing another Evil Urges or anything that sounds like Dear God..it would seem like a little overkill.

I don't know if I agree, for my money the straight up rockers (Aluminum Park and Remnants) on Evil Urges were pretty generic rockers by MMJ's standards and were weak spots on the album.

I agree, I meant stuff more in vain of OBH, Magheeta, Wonderful Man,  Run Thru, etc..... Jim has stated before about getting away from guitar based songs a bit but I'd like to hear them get back to the basics.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

AMightyCaporal

QuoteOK, I apologize for being overly defensive.  I'm really drunk right now.  You all pretty much know that anything Jacket related can do no wrong in my world, so my opinion has become worthless.   But M and Jim are my two favorite musicians in the world, and really, they CAN'T do any wrong.  And whether you like Conor or not, you have to admit he's a great song writer, and if you don't, your lying to yourself.   Shit, I'm getting overly defensive again.

Preach it brotha! Spit that fire!
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

It being a dead year for MMJ, I haven't been around these parts much lately, but MOF brought me back to see what people had to say, and I've only heard the one song they have played on the radio (92.5 is the only station playing it in Boston I believe) and unfortunately I can't really say much other than that it's... erm... well... just okay.

and it looks like that's the consensus.

Dammit Yim, release Jim's soul back to us!!!

nahhhh, I'm kidding... keep being the off-beat man you are, Yimmy.

I've never heard of Conor, but who every this sandman is, he's one of the monsters. I love these songs...wait...THESE TRACKS FOCKING ROCK...that's better. For all of you who think otherwise, that is ok...you're entitled to your opinions...just like I'm entitled to my opinion that your nothing special. ;)

Dear God...Wow!

dear god equals snooze alert
four on the floor and four in the air....

I love all three songs so far. Brakeman is classic M Ward. That guy just writes the perfect song. Say Please is great! And Dear God just grows on me with each listen... and I keep listening to it over and over again. I think it starts out with a nod to Jim's cover of Sianara (sp?), love the harp and when the chorus comes in....WOW! Jim is just shinning!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Nice article...and nice surprise, holy hell!  Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, and John Paul Jones playing together!  Like the article says, supergroups that seem like a good idea can sometimes suck, but this sounds like it has potential.  Can't wait to hear what they put out.
We could.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

Diggin the new tunes.  interesting take on folk music haha.  the end of Dear God reminds me of a Neil Diamond song or something.  maybe I'm retarded.  good stuff, definitely need more material to assess the situation of how hard they rock.  it's definitely good music, pumped for more.

the sun and moon

it seems like tickets are selling like hotcakes.

If so I hope they announce a 2nd leg of the tour later on.
