Re BSS, what about Andrew Whiteman and Leslie Feist?  They both had other bands/solo projects before BSS, didn't they?

I love this:

My Morning Jacket has been so rewarding, and challenging, to follow because Jim James clearly has little interest in repeating himself as a singer or a songwriter. Across a half dozen albums, he's indulged in dark blues, falsetto-led funk, and reverb-heavy psychedelica with equal conviction. Morning Jacket's songs leave you wondering whether they were written and recorded in 1966 or 2009, but not in a nostalgic or retro way. Their research into slinky psychedelic folk has led to an arms race with Wilco.

Penny, I love this too.  One of my favorite aspects of the Jacket is the way they keep reinventing their sound.  It's so fascinating...it's like they're making us a mix tape of what they're digging at the moment, reinterpreted and reinvented to make it their own.

But are they really part of that band?  Do they write?  I guess BBS just kind of confuses me but with the amount of great names that have played with them, I'll add them.  ;)

1. Monsters of Folk
2. Traveling Wilburys
3. The Highway Men
4. CSNY
5. Broken Social Scene
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I think only Winwood and Clapton wrote the songs and sang the on Blind Faith album, correct me if I'm wrong.
Ginger Baker wrote, but didn't sing, Do What You Like - if you want to count that (I wouldn't). He did write and "sing" Pressed Rat and Warthog for Cream...;)

You know, that's a good question...I don't know how the writing credits are split.  I'll do a little research on it   ;)

Quote#15 on first Billboard 200

It says it's in it's second week and that it debuted at #143.  Not sure why that is since this is the first chart it's eligible for after a 9-22 release.

Any idea on how many albums sold?

Im guessing like 30-35k

I just noticed under the lryics In the little booklet that on songs like dear god and whole lotta losin where there are obviously electric drums it says drum programing so on songs where jim is listed for just drums, is that how they make it sound?? Cuz that sounds like something that would be very interesting to see!! :D

Did you preorder it, Kory?  I'm still waiting to pick mine up as well but I didn't preorder.  Maybe I should've though, the MoF website says they're out of stock.

Better deal than I got too. My shipping was 10 bucks, don't care though it was worth it.

yea, I wanna buy it locally as I didn't preorder but thinking of just buying it from amazon so I can get a copy... weird how it seems to be getting pushed out of the local stores.
I'll also mention that I was behind John Yarmuth (ky congressman) yesterday and he was buying the MOF cd... that would have been a great picture and I bet he's got some sweet tunes stuck in his head at work this morning!

I listened to this record on the way to Charleston and on the way back this weekend.  It's so much better than I was even hoping for.  I'm actually really, really falling in love with Conor at this point.  I love his self titled album and his songs on here remind me of that record.  His lyrics on Dear God pretty much slay the song.  I love the idea of the song and don't get me wrong Jim and M. do a great job but then Conor........

Dear god, I wish that I could touch you
How strange sometimes I feel I almost do
And then I'm back behind the glass again
Oh god what keeps you out it keeps me in

He writes great lyrics, PERIOD
