Hi all, have you ever recommended to a friend that they get their ass[es] down to a local venue in order to catch a band that you really like? Well get a load of this:
Hi Col,
I saw MMJ last night at the concorde2. I reckon you owe me 10 quid. I've
seen worse, but only in a japanese karaoke bar.
I had no idea you were now into heavy metal. I will send you a copy of
Motorheads greatest hit when I get a chance.
I guess you can't please all the people all the time eh???

Haha funny guy!

Well the only thing I can say is that there is a HUGE difference between mmj on Cd and mmj live.  On cd there is a really magical atmosphere. They play really relaxed, but nevertheless difficult music (when you listen to it for the first time) where they create giant spaces in open deserted fields.  But live they are a real rock'n roll rollercoaster.  Especially with their third cd out, which tries to attain the live ambiance of a mmj gig, they rock more than ever.
So I can understand that you were a little bit shocked about the well orchestrated noise they were making, but hell, we haven't had such a band since zeppelin split up.

If I may give you an advice, dear friend, don't throw this beauty away but try to listen to one of their cd's, maybe the album "At dawn" would be a good start for you, or "the Tennessee Fire".

greetz and take care,

Obviously, never LISTENED to Motorhead if that is the comparison! Lemmy - Jim James. Opposite ends of the spectrum, I'd say.  ???

From start to finish though, this was a stunning evenings entertainment. A perfect coupling of SOUTH SAN GABRIEL & MY MORNING JACKET.

Highlights for me (and the crowd, judging by their applause) were SSG's 'the splinter angelic' with that haunting fiddle. Will Johnson's rasping live vocal has the edge over the recorded version any day. As for MMJ, there were many, but in particular 'one in the same' accompanied by Will Johnson on the harmonies and that finale of 'run thru'. If ever a track was meant to be played live it's that one.

WORLD CLASS ! Thank you guys

Can anyone tell me what the full setlist was?

peanut butter puddin surprise

I guess I can see that.  But only to the non-discerning ear.

Why is it that everyone who plugs in a guitar and rocks out a bit is somehow metal?  Come on.
Runnin' from somethin' that isn't there
