I Jam Out just me and my acoustic to the video clips of Phone Went West.  I start out sitting in my computer chair and end up knocking over printers, stacks of paper are flying through the air, The cats in the corner with a look of bewilderment.  Who knew three simple chords could create so much bliss. I think part of what makes Jim so special is his ability to play a couple simple chords together in a way that makes them seem as if they haven't even been invetned yet.

I'm just curious.......did they have a horn section when they played "Dancefloors"? ???

In a way, those photos don't begin to capture the feeling surrounding the concert.  As mentioned earlier, during Cobra and At Dawn the wind began to swirl so bad that they had to lower the two giant speakers that were hanging from the top of the stage because they were banging into the columns holding up the top.  This only got Jim excited, for he made a comment to the crowd that he always wanted to play in the middle of something "tornadic".  Also, once the rain started pouring, a worker from the festival approached Jim in the middle of Steam Engine and asked if he wanted to continue in the storm--and of course Jim said yes.  The rain and wind only got worse however--and when Steam Engine ended, he said "see you next time" to the crowd (making us think that mmj was going to play one last song before the encore).  and right when they were about start another song jim said again "see you next time"--and this time they went off the stage with the crowd cheering.
after hearing cobra live for the first time--I predict that it will be a regular for setlists even after this tour.  It is such a dynamic, with so many transitions, that is a perfect song for mmj to perform and improv to.
lastly, does anyone know the name of the song that was playing right before the boys came on stage?  the chorus dealt with "returning home to louisville.  let me know if this sounds familiar to anyone.

This is just a guess b/c I wasn't there, but there's a bluegrass song by Grandpa Jones (of Hee-Haw fame) called Eight More Miles To Louisville.

The chorus goes:
Eight more miles and Louisville will come into my view
Eight more miles on this old road & I'll never more be blue.
I knew one day that I'd come back, I knew it from the start,
Eight more miles to Louisville the hometown of my heart.

That is indeed the song that was playing.  good call for not being at the show sir.

i was their through cobra and then i had to run back to the tent because i was smart enough to leave my keys in their wiht no tent stakes.  i could hear At Dawn beginning just as i hit shakedown and then i was, sadly, out of earshot.

can't wait for a lebowski fest report.

peace

No doubt.  It'll be great to relive that show while not being in a storm!
