M. Ward Preps His Fourth Album For Merge

Micah C. Harding reports:
The rustic but personable M. Ward is preparing to release his fourth full-length album this winter. Entitled Transistor Radio, the album is slated for a February 22 arrival via Merge and follows his highly acclaimed 2003 effort Transfiguration of Vincent.

Ward recorded Transistor Radio during his often sparse amounts of spare time in 2004, between playing guitar with Bright Eyes at the 2004 Coachella festival, appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and playing a pair of collaborative tours with Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and Jim James of My Morning Jacket. However hard it may be to believe given the numerous ties, he doesn't really sound a thing like Bright Eyes. Give it a try:

01 You Still Believe in Me
02 One Life Away
03 Sweethearts on Parade
04 Hi-Fi
05 Fuel for Fire
06 Four Hours in Washington
07 Regeneration No. 1
08 Big Boat
09 Paul's Song
10 Radio Campaign
11 Here Comes the Sun Again
12 Deep Dark Well
13 Oh Take Me Back
14 I'll Be Yr Bird
15 Lullaby + Exile
16 Well-Tempered Clavier

Ward is planning a brief U.S. tour, which will kick off three days after the LP's release. [glb]He'll then go on a nationwide tour with My Morning Jacket starting in early May, which will include a May 6 live set for KCRW's famed "Morning Becomes Eclectic" show.[/glb] For now, dates:

02-25 Chicago, IL - Schuba's Tavern
03-02 New York, NY - Knitting Factory
03-04 Northampton, MA - Iron Horse
03-05 Boston, MA - Remis Auditorium
03-24 San Francisco, CA - Slim's
03-29 Los Angeles, CA - Troubadour

Can't wait to see 2 of my favorite's together. Hopefully they come to Denver.

Careful, that tour hasn't been confirmed. Or, I should say, MMJ's part in that tour isn't confirmed. The definitive place to check is the 'shows' section of this forum. Good call to use some of your student loan to go to Bonnaroo  :D

Yeah, not sure about that. At least at Schubas in Chicago, I think it's M. Ward only. Honestly Schubas can't hold the fellas anymore. I'd like to see more M. Ward though myself.

We're buying our Toronto tickets veeeeerrrry sooooon.  I'm pretty excited.

For M. Ward.  Solo.  Just him.  Only M.  (Is it Matt?)

No J. James, nobody else, just Mr. M.  Alone.

Which shall be a wonderful time. :)

That's wierd I was in New Orleans that weekend, this was before I was into mmj, we flew in on the last plane before they shut down the airport, qotsa were suppposed to play house of blues that night but didn't. Great town by the way, 5 days nearly killed us. the erin rose on Conti has the best jukebox.

Actually, you weren't in New Orleans that night.  You were in New Orleans in '02 for the QOTSA/Trail of Dead show that got cancelled.  The show being referred to was thisSeptember.  Yes, that happens fairly often in New Orleans.  Hahaha.  An honest mistake.  A little FYI:  TOD is just making that show up this March.  Three years later.  I think QOTSA came back like that November or something.  MMJ has yet to come back or even flirt with the idea of it.  Oh well.  Someday.
from this town, we'd escape
if we holler loud and make our way
we'd all live one big holiday.

I just saw on the Matador Records website that M. Ward will be doing a tour in Europe in late May. Most of the shows are in Germany. I will be lucky enough to be travelling around Germany during that time and was wondering if MMJ will be touring with him. It will be a little out of our way as far as making the shows in relation to our current travel plans but I would definately make some changes to our plans if MMJ was touring with him. Someone fill me in.

Nobody knows anything...  Your best bet is to keep checking back here to the SHOWS page - that is the first place where shows are listed.  :)
