Storm is coming

So i went to the guys show at the tower theatre in philly last night...suuuuch a weeeiiiiirrrdd shoowwww. Oddest and most unfun crowd i've ever been with at a show, seriously. I stood up as mmj took the stage (cause everyone was sitting) and a bunch of fat 35 year old women, nothing against anyone who fits that description, but these women were yelling at me, calling me a bastard, little shit, and asshole...for standing while the band played?!?!?! ridiculous. MMJ rocked as always and put on a good show for those who were there with intentions to see them, thanks guys good luck on your tour up to bonnarroo, see you at piers landing. keep on rockin on.

I was at the Tower last night too, I missed some of the openers, but I'm not too upset about it. I agree the crowd was alot older and weren't into dancing or standing for that matter. Highlight of the night: Watching that freaky conductor while MMJ was playing. As usual they rocked, but the setlist was too short... :(

yeah it was pretty short...but being first row and making everyone stand up was worth it just to be there...rockin show...loved the maestro..i got his setlist. I wasn't familiar with a few of the tunes, am i just being a newbie or are they new songs or ones they usually do live that aren't on any of their releases? on the setlist they are listed as "off the record" (which somehow i did recognize and i think at some points they played the cobra drumbeat) "what a" and "don dante." i have pretty much everything they've recorded save the two new darla releases, and still didn't recognize anyone wanna help out?

there were also two more songs on the setlist one i didn't recognize "it beats for you" and my favorite mmj song "run through thru" (verbatim) that seem to have been written on by jim himself comparing album note handwritting. kinda disappointing they didn't come back for those last two. run thru would of left me speechless this morning

It's totally possible/probable that they played new tunes.  "It Beats for You" is not new, but hasn't been released anywhere yet.  (I think)

the opener was definitely new, and they played one other new song about halfway through. the two songs in which they used a  drum machine (im guessing) were either new or maybe some type of odd cover?? it was cool. and i don't think there should be any doubt in anyones mind it was a short set. 55 minutes at the max and no encore...i think they needed to be done by 11. and the people there were probably more worried about who they were giving or getting a blowjob from to work their way up in the noncommercial radio world...burn. jimmy said but one thing to the audience the whole time 'my friend', im sure the guys were about as pleased with the whole ordeal as we were, but did what they could. i just can't wait to see them again in less than a month.

FYI.. the VENUE/MANAGEMENT told MMJ NOT to play encore due to noise/neighborhood ordinances...

That's like asking Beethoven to skip the fourth movement of his 9th symphony.  Fucking retarded.

(Although, understandable I guess.)

yeah i noticed alot of suit-type looking people there...and also the jason mraz whores...while they were damn hot...attempted to take my seat as i got there late. there was alot of your typical loudmouth "college music" fans there too and they all got fucked over royally when mraz only played 4 songs...hell at least i got some eye candy to look at as the girlies rushed the stage during his set

Wow. After listening to MMJ for a few years now, this was actually my first show. Needless to say, after the short set I was left wanting more. Incredible live band. I wasn't prepared for the VOLUME. Very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing them in June.
Yeah, the Jason Mraz chicks were mildly entertaining and annoying at the same time. Two college girls with very large "personalities" moved up and sat next to me. They asked who My Morning Jacket was and 'what kind of music is it?' That question actually made me pause, which is a good thing. But anyway, as they took swigs from their flask of vodka and gradually became more annoying, I knew they'd be gone soon into the MMJ set. And they were. Right after the first song. You know I'm enjoying a show when I'm wishing the two hot chicks next to me would leave. Did I just write that???
Staying for Jason Mraz and leaving for MMJ? You can't buy taste. And vodka apparently doesn't help either.
 :P

Chills

Why don't college girls with large 'personalities' love MMJ?
They should! It would enhance our lives...
