From a first timer:

We just got home from the show and I was completely blown away.  From what I can recall of the setlist:

Wordless Chorus - stage completely dark unitl the "chorus"
It Beats for You
Gideon
(the rest is in no particular order)
Dondante
What a Wonderful Man
Anytime
Lay Low
Off the Record
Knot Comes Loose
One Big Holiday
Mahgeetah
Run Thru
Make it With You (Bread cover) Very cool!
Sooner
The Way That He Sings
Golden

Man...I am drawing a blank!  Someone please fill in the gaps (between being completely blown away by seeing MMJ for the first time - and the 15 minute beer lines, I'm sure I'm missing a LOT.  They played for about 2 hours).  The encore lasted about 5 songs.

I'm just glad I got to see the opening show for this tour...and for it to be my first time....amazing. Simply amazing.

Man, that's so cool!
Thanks for posting rghill - welcome aboard  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

HAHA! Make It With You, that's amazing! I can just hear Jim singing that.........HOT. Great setlist.....bet you're on Cloud 9......how was Jim's voice? I gotta see them again.
"demon eyes are watchin' everywhere"

loper

That Bread cover!!!!!!!!

Must have been written with Jim in mind [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

dooo de doooo!!!!  I just got a big bunch of goosebumps.

Whew.

Sounds like it was awesome.  WOOOORRRDD!

(Hey, how was Kathleen Edwards?)

Angry Ewok

Kathleen was actually very good, I thought. I looked back to see how many folks were up front, but it was kinda dark... She had all the folks up front grooving, at least.

Her guitarist was pretty impressive with the glass slide, I thought - but I'm easily amused.

Good band.

--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

Yay!  That girl is fucking rock live.  Did she get down on her knees and groove out?

yes.  she did.

Angry Ewok

She got down low, for sure. Her and the guitarist were doing some sort of strange Canadian love dance or something ( ??? ), I was expecting them to head butt one another by the end of the night... Thankfully that didn't happen, though.

Ahhh, the Canadian Love Dance. Do you guys not do that?  It's awesome.  It's very popular here.  We all do it to each other all the time.  And you're right, it DOES usually end in a head butt...  I wonder what happened...

;)

(they're married, eh?)

Billo

Kathleen's guitarist/husband Colin Cripps has been stirring it up for years North of the 49th as the guitarist for the Crash Vegas, as well as with The Spoons, an 80s dance band.  He provided too much of an edge for that band and they imploded.  Poor Gord Deppe.

EC

Fuck off, Colin Cripps was in the Spoons?!  What?  They played a dance at my highschool!!!

Crazio.

Oh yeah!  Oh yeah!  Just getting back home and I'm still dazed..happily..but miss them already.  I jUsT LoVe that Band!  Wow.  If anyone is on the fence about this show, (not that I could imagine that), do NOT miss it!

Thanks everyone for posting your comments and reviews, and the setlist.  It was SO great to read them and relive moments.  And there were some very special moments and long-lasting memories, thanks to good friends, stellar music, and a couple of great rockin' guys.

Going to see if there are any more articles and whatnot out there to post.  We'll talk more about Atlanta when I can collect my thoughts.

Hey, did anybody take any pictures of the show?

Allan Elijah

hey i saw mmj last night in atlanta (i actually went for kathleen edwards).  i was pretty impressed by my morning jacket's show.  here's my question though:

what is the name of the song that they played near the end of the set (before the encore) when the guitarist played the saxophone?

allright thanks
later, a

corey

It was probably "DonDante".
Carl plays sax at the end of it on the record.

EC

....another mysterious hit by the doublespaceD...

ratsprayer

did bo stand during mahgeetah?    8)

EC

Quotedid bo stand during mahgeetah?    8)
Oh yeah!

(I wonder if he knows about that now, and feels like he has to stand every time Mahgeetah is played so that people don't feel bad.  Can you picture it:
"Heeey, dude, how was the show? Did they play Mahgeetah?"
"Yeah. They played Mahgeetah."
"AAAWESOME.  Heh - did Bo stand during Mahgeetah?"
"[sigh] No.  No he didn't.  Bo did not stand for Mahgeetah tonight."
"Oh.[pause] Shit."
"Yep." )
