Austin show four years ago today

Hi everybody,
I'm new to the forum but I wanted to say 'hi' to everyone
and just proclaim my MMJ fanhood on the four year
anniversary of my first-ever MMJ show.    I was told about
'em by one of the openers (Scott of Centro-matic - he'd
told me to make sure and come down to Austin on October 25
because they were opening for this band called My Morning
Jacket and it's basically all he'd been listening to).
So..I did go down there because I knew that I loved South
San Gabriel and Brent Best already.    Within about the
third song of MMJ's set I thought "who ARE these guys?!"
I bought The Tennessee Fire and At Dawn right after the
show and within a couple of days I was totally hooked on
'em.   I have subsequently gone on an entire freak-out and
I have planned vacations around seeing them play live.
So...I'm a hardcore fan, for sure.   I caught them earlier
this month in Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville.   They are
still one of the greatest live bands (and studio bands,
too) on the planet.   I am really happy for them and I
think they're just going to keep getting bigger and better.
I have a recording of that show (10/25/01, Austin, Mercury
Lounge) if there's anyone who still doesn't have it.
Unforunately, I would have to mail it to someone to put up
on a server/ftp/shn format, whatever it's called and however
it's done.   I still don't have much of a computer; I bought
this one in 1997 and there's not even a burner on it!
Anyway, it's good to read all of these reports of the live
shows and I am looking forward to seeing them again in
Dallas.   Have fun.

If I remember correctly, you offered up this show last year and I took you up on it. I would be glad to load it up to an ftp or somewhere else.
'bout time you joined the forum...nice to have you.

Thank you!   That'd be great if you want to do it, I
guess those who want it just need to contact you.   I am
still trying to figure out the forum and how to post.   I
think I deleted my original message so there's not a bunch
of repetition.   Anyway, yeh, it is such an important date/
show to me that I always offer it up on the old yahoolist,
which is basically dead these days.   I like to kid Riny that he singlehandedly killed the yahoolist!   But the forum
is great...lots of information out there.   Here is the set-
list for the October 25, 2001 show:  The Dark/Lowdown/One
Big Holiday/Picture of You/War Begun/Old Sept Blues/Strangu-
lation/The Way that He Sings/The Bear/Phone Went West/Lil
Billy/Tyrone/Xmas Curtain(first verse)/It's about Twilight
Now/Xmas Curtain    -    Jim does Strangulation, Tyrone, and
Xmas Curtain solo.   He was in fine comedic form that night,
too.   And it just keeps on getting better.  He strikes me
as a guy who likes to laugh and one that has a slightly corny sense of humor.   Anyway, knock yourselves out, I hope
you enjoy the show half as much as I dig it.   I'm listening
to it right now, in fact.   "it's not the way that you look
but your move that catches my eye" (classic!)

Have fun,
Low Dog
