I grew up in L-ville with a music loving dad that gave me the gift of live shows from an early age because I had the yearning even then.I was weaned on live Jerry Lee Lewis in his prime before I'd opened a text book and I still remember seeing the faces and hearing the voices of many of the greats of my generation. I saw Dylan bring a crowd of 8000 to it's knees and meanwhile at another time and place Ralph Stanley open his mouth and give the gift of his lyrics and haunting vocals to my life forever.Last night in L-ville at the age of 40 I witnessed the most magical and evident sign of "whatever God there is" sharing the stage with a young man wiser and more talented than his years.Jim James,a guitar,a stool, the darkness surrounding him,the light coming forth from him,and the suddenly silent stunned masses in front of him.I Will Be There When You Die,was all that and more. The hair on my arms is STILL standing up.How do you begin to thank someone for a gift and memory like that.
