Quote:( the beauty of a band like mmj is getting lost in the songwriting, the undeniable musical performances, the energy of a live show where the members are connected with themselves, and their music. the fact that mmj does not fit any particular genre makes them even more of an empty canvas, allowed to be filled by the imagination of the listener, giving us all a great opportunity to interpret the songs in our own unique way. my imagination does not fill in the blanks with fairies and goblins. theatrics, in my opinion, can only dillute the power of great music. but i will be there for both shows nonetheless. PLEASE make the fillmore proud and do completely different setlists each night, and please bring back dancefloors. thanks

i disagree. the music is amazing regardless of the setting

whitebread2005

yeah, i had to throw that in there, but more than anything i'm just excited for the shows. i love them for a lot of reasons, one of which is that they are not flowery like a lot of other bands. the fantasy fairy thing sounds kind of flowery, but hopefully it'll be cool.

top cat?

what does that have to do with victorian costumes and goblins?

CC

not top cat but topcat: a fearsome halberdier knight

But seein you feels good, and its always understood.

I thought you meant Top Cat the old cartoon dude, too.

So.  I looked up a Halberdier.  Scary.  Is topcat a specific knight, or a branch of knights?

CC

topcat knights get to wear red velvet jackets.

Fucking right!  I want to be one, too.  Do you have a red velvet jacket, Riny?

That reminds me that I have two velvet jackets that have not seen the light in far too long.  I love velvet.  I LOVE velvet.

I have a velvet pillow. :)

so let me get this straight; you love velvet? ;)

Laurie the Artist

For those of us who won't be able to go: I would love to see some film of Alice in Wonderland characters!  Who remembers the Tom Petty video "Don't come around here no more?"   Did that song have anything specific to Alice in Wonderland?  Heck no! but it played out beautifully.

The cast of crazy characters seem in keeping with the dreamscape, fantasy or macabre images of dreams and otherworlds of the whole Z package.  Zzzzzzz those crazy bizzare mixed illogical time crossing images that take you when you're sleeping.  "Dance the Macbre"

Now I just hope I can spell.

BANDY

is anyone actually dressing up for these shows? Its gonna be pretty embarassing if only a few people will be turning up in attire. Are the shows sold out?....there has'nt been much activity on this subject...so is it doomed to fail. :-[

I think given that it's San Fran, The Fillmore and more people attend shows than belong or post on this board, it'll be pretty well attired.  I'd give anything to be there.  I'd LOVE to dress up in a Victorian Ball Gown and be amongst the other costumed party-goers...and THEN get MMJ on top of that?!  Whoa.

johan

I'm coming from Minneapolis with a friend.  We'll be well attired and I think everyone else will be.   I definitely have faith in the creativity of the MMJ fanbase.

October

if anybody lives in san fran they should put up some posters about this so everybody knows

Honest_Man

I'll go over to the fillmore and see if they'll post something at the ticket window.  The show has not sold out yet.  But, never fear.  People out here get masked at the drop of a hat.  There are year-round costume shops in every neighborhood.  Its THE town to ask a crowd to dress up in.  What a freak show.

man, fuck college! i should be flying out there for this (all the way from Indiana)!
