why is it... (what's that song again?) that certain long-time members feel like they have to hide behind a guest account? it happens a lot lately. I don't know, maybe i'm wrong and they just have grumpy roommates  ::)

Mr. T.

Quotewhy is it... (what's that song again?)

CC,

do you mean Funk Dat, by Sagat? That's one hell of a funky song. Just saw it the other day on MTV. Kewl 8)

Lyrics:

FUNK DAT!

Question...
Why is it that every time
I'm walking down the street,
Somebody wants to stop me
Just to give me a flyer?

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
Get out of my way!

Question...
Why is it that every time
I'm walking to the bank,
The tellers look at me
Like I'm the one that robbed them last week?

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
What are you looking at?

Question...
Why is it that every time
I turn on the radio,
I hear the same five songs
fifteen times a day for three months?

Man...
FUNK DAT!
Get a new DJ!

Question...
Why is it that bums ask me for money,
When I ain't got none?
What is it an "in" thing or something,
"Let me remind this dude he ain't got no money. Huh?

Man...
FUNK DAT!
Get a job!

You know,
Every time I see my neighboor,
She tells me to stay out of trouble,
The other one looks at me like
I'm the one that got her daughter strung out.

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
What are you looking at?

Seems like every time it never fails,
It never fails...
I'm just chillin' in my crib,
Minding my own business,
And somebody calls me just to talk about nothing...

FUNK DAT!
Get a life!

Question...
Why is it that when I go out to a night club,
Only the ugly chicks wanna step to me,
I mean like I'm ugly or something, huh?
What do you mean, huh?

FUNK DAT!
Get outta my face!

Kinda appropriate ;D
We are young despite the years,
we are concern,
we are hope despite the times

Chris T, quit being a bitch.  If you can't get over the fact that you can't get MMJ whenever YOU want them at your convenience, and we are simply laying down the logical facts of why that won't happen get the fuck out of here. We are good people, and will continue to be good people.  We never came across as trying to mean, rude, sarcastic or anything that may apply. We are a family here.   We want to love you, but you are making it hard for us.

Please calm down and civilize.
Passion dripping from the coyote's eyes,
He can taste his blood,
An' blood never lies,
Pale face die. - Kiedis

NINJA!!!  ;)

no need to be rude. like sioux tribe said - we are a family here, so if you want to join in, fine join us, we'd love to have you. if you're just going to be crap to people anonymously, then don't bother....
love a song for the way it makes you feel

Chris T,

I'm also in the UK and I have now experienced 4 cancelled gigs. But I can't see why you are being so provocative (unless you are fishing).

You have made your point. One, if it were expressed a little more calmly, I would have some sympathy with. However, dispite previous cancellations being for reasons of self interest by the band, this time  we really should empathise with Jim.  Don't forget he came over at short notice to do a solo gig as consolation for the St James Church cancellation. He did not need to do that.

Try and chill out for now for God's sake. 8)

since concert cancellations could happen to anyone, please purchase comprehensive travel insurance that permits you to cancel your trip/hotel at the drop of a hat.
like that, no lost money, and less anger.
aaaahhh... much better!
everything sucks. really.

It's not always as simple as that though. I don't agree with Chris's tone but she has a right to express her disappointment. Insurance costs money and for some people money is short. Concert cancellations can happen to anyone, but it's the repeated cancellation that's upsetting people.

I really don't want this old wound reopened. We're reading about the great shows folks have seen and their plans for bonnarroo etc and waiting patiently for our own shows to be announced. What's really helped heal this is the sensitive and unpatronising way most members who post on this have been.

[img][img][glb]Depite all this sniping (why do all chat rooms/forums end in acrimony?) some news would be appreciated.I've noticed that there's really not much coming off this site - the same message about Jim's illness has been posted for many months now without any update even with Jim obviously much better now due to shows being set up for April. Also, I've never once received any of their newsletters. So, some NEW news... please  [/glb]

I'm moving to Spb, Russia soon and I know the Jacket won't come there:(  But, when they do come to Europe I'm going to book my ticket, reserve a room in a hostel or hotel, and hop on a train to see them because I wish I would've seen them more in the past and for some reason only in the last year have they become my hands down favourite band.  So, I will travel to see them in a club.  I've only seen them once at roo 04.

i guess i can understand that many europeans feel upset about the tour cancellations.  I feel really bad that I haven't seen them more.  And I feel totally bummed that I might not be able to see them again.  But, just be glad that you have seen the ones you've seen and also be thankful for the people who tape and download the shows so others who weren't able to make it can hear it.

And, also just hope for the best.  (that Jim gets better soon and rocks out europe, followed by a world tour ;D)

I'm not saying anything about this topic except that we didn't need another thread about it. There are already plenty of them.... and at least one of them is on the first page of this Shows forum. Just go in there and post your rant instead of starting a new one. Thanks.

(Just had to get that off my chest. It's my OCD speaking).

only just joined this forum so not really gained a real insight as yet, but speaking as a resident of the UK i feel i need to repair some bad feeling here.

Quite simply, ChrisT needs to wake up and smell the roses. There's no reason whatsoever to presume that MMJ will never return to the UK (hell i hope there aint).  I was gutted they cancelled, but at least Jim had a viable excuse rather than like Babyshambles whose crack-head lead singer just decides he cant be bothered to show.

I imagine they lost a lot of money out of it too, and it obviously involves a lot of planning.

Sorry if this has all been said before.  We in the UK often forget how lucky we are with live music, I apologise sincerely.

Yeah, it is a big move.  Fortunately, I've already been there, so I have a pretty good handle on how to get around and what not.  My Russian is okay, it should be alot better though.  I was there last summer and I ended up missing Bonaroo :'(  But, I'll be there for awhile.  At least until Christmas.  Then I'll go back again.  I'll be teaching English.  I'm so upset that I'll be missing Jacket shows this year.  C'est La Vie!  But, I figure you just have to do it when yer young.  I've got a Russian friend over there who I introduced to MMJ and she really likes them.  Hey, if the band wants I can be the MMJ ambassador to Russia ;D

Pleased I missed this one.

MMJ played in England in summer 2004. I had the privallige to see this wonderful life changing band. I have had tickets to the last two canceld shows and was most dissapointed when they pulled from the reading festival. I just get in my car and drive listen to the albums and imagine myself on the plains of a kentucky field. thanks for taking me there guys the weather is great.
People always told me that bars are dark and lonely, and talk is always cheep and filled with air.
