Dee.

First off, thanks to all of you guys for sharing your reviews with us.  They are sweet.

Secondly, I wonder what M. Ward song it was.  That's awesome.

And thirdly, did I hear my name?  :)
You can send anything my way and I'll try to hook it up for everybody.

Mr. T.

Thanks everybody for their stories! It's so good to hear they're back in full force!
We are young despite the years,
we are concern,
we are hope despite the times

Thanks Tracy! It was a truly wonderful way to help celebrate our 25th. I can't say anything more that hasn't been said already about how great a performance it was,So I'll just talk about how the  MMJ fans we met (Tracy,Brian,Tom,Corey,Meg etc)are some the nicest, sweetest and craziest(in a good way ;D) people ever. I sure wish we could have got a chance to hang out with you all a little longer . Maybe next time.
Rock on My MMJ Family!

I can't believe that nobody's mentioned the AWESOME drum solo at the beginning of Run Thru.  I had tears streaming down my face for that.   ;D

Holy moly that was a wonderful show.  I've never been at the front before where you're all pressed up against the gates, and I'd like to formerly apologize to the small girl beside me.  At one point I turned to my right and saw her boyfriend shielding her face with his hat, and I said "Oh you GUYS, is my hair getting in your face?"  And they said, "ummm, kind of."  Damn.  ;)

It was pretty cool to have people singing along as much and as loud as they did behind me.

The fellas were on FIRE that night.  It was definitely one of the best shows I've seen them do.  Carl rocked pretty fucking hard.  We all agreed.  ratsprayer, you would've freaked out.  Not that Carl rocked harder than the others, or doesn't normally rock so hard, but he was moving all over the damn place and it was awesome.

One of my favourite things was watching Jim strut, and if you were there, you know what I'm talking about.  Was it Anytime?

When I was standing in line, every time the door would open, I would hear a snippet, and I'm like "Is that what I think it is?"  And then getting a text message from Corey saying "Sound Check.  Turn right out the doors."  :)

Holy fuck, a Gram Parsons cover nearly kicked the crap right out of me.  That was spectacular.  haha, this dude behind me taps me on the shoulder and says "This song is awesome, but I don't recognize it - what album is it from?"  heh.

But it was Older Guys, not one of the Burritos.  (if you've never seen the video for that, you have to.  I think it's on the youtube thing) rock it.

It was really awesome to meet such lovely people and to get to hang with dudes that I really love.  A memorable and special night with a rock factor to 11.

I believe there are a multitude of pictures out there, so you dudes get those quick to Riny.

EC

I just realized outside that I wasn't clear.  Gram Parsons was in a band called The Flying Burrito Brothers, and they were the ones who did Older Guys.  word.  And it medleyed into the VE song.  I love me a medley.

Oh yeah, Trey can you post soon so I know you got home okay?  :)

leafygreens

so I'm reading all these reviews, hating my life now for not being able to go to this show (I'm within reasonable distance, but had conflicting plans, but not anything so important that I should've ditched 'em and gone now I realize).  But I thought, well it's okay, somehow i'll deal with it.

Then, I read they coverd "OLDER GUYS"?!
Noooooooooooo!!  life just got so much worse that I wasn't there.  I have all the original vinyl Flying Burrito Brothers albums as well as the Gram Parsons solo albums.   Older Guys is my phone ringer (i'm a dork i know)!!!
I'd love any recording out of this show, but did anyone get the FBB cover?!

I WENT OVER THE RIVER - AND INTO THE WOODS - WHERE DID I GO?

corey

Whose head is that?  ;)

I have some thoughts, but I need to collect them first. I had a rough morning (this morning) and wasn't able to check in yesterday to post anything.

BH

That last picture should have been titled, "Can you see the helmet on my head?!" 8)

Thanks for the stories.  I smiled the whole time I was reading them.

Glad to hear the boys are still exploring the songs.  I love that!

I am a little confused on the cover.  Was it FBB's or Velvet Underground?  Both?  Medley?
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

capndan

I was there and I'm honestly not sure about the cover.  I know that "Head Held High" was the main part of the song but I'm not sure if the beginning was the Flying Burrito's or not.  I guess it makes sense if the setlist dubbed it "Burritohead" but I do know  "Head Held High" ended it.

EC

medley.  2 song medley. :)  or, at least, they just kind of went from one into the next.

god, at least i think that's what happened...  who can back me up on this?  no, i think i'm right.  because i didn't know the ve song too well, and i remember thinking "man, i don't remember older guys sounding like this..."  ;)

QuoteWhose head is that?  ;)
i believe that would be the head of a viking warrior, come back from the frozen tundra to have his face rocked the hell off of his head.  :)

trey, glad to hear you made it back safe.  :)

dudes, we have yet to mention that tom eisenbraun TOTALLY DISSED us.  which might be understandable.

tom to new girlfriend: "uh, yeah, so we're going to hang with these dudes that i know.   from the internet.  and, ah, they're going to be wearing viking helmets and stuff, so... ah..." ;)

sweatboard

Well, you have to admit she was fearless.  I think it was Tracy who said it best.........Tom and his Lady Friend get in the car leaving the house - Lady Friend to Tom - "Tom, you can do much better than this!!!"   ;D

Good to see Dancefloors is back. I heard them sound checking it in Chicago (I think?), that song is made for a nice, big jam!

But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

i'd say she's one hell of a trooper for actually waering the helmet with me for the first eight songs or so. i wanted to really rock out, so i put it down on the ground. some other dude quickly found it and sported it, so it went to good use.

not to mention, i trooped around nashville by foot to go to the starbucks right there with her and wore my viking helmet most of the whoel time. she actually associated with me during that time, which is a pretty big thing to say for a guy wearing a plastic viking helmet.

The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.
