You know it's going to happen because they're both huge fans of Neil Young.  So, what song will it be, what song do you hope they do together.  I don't think it will be Rocking In The Free World or Harvest Moon (which Eddie has already done).  I'm thinking something much more obscure.  I'm hopeing for "On The Beach".  Actually anything off the "On The Beach" album would be great, including "See The Sky About To Rain" with Bo going to town as well.
There's Still Time.........

Powderfinger.
Not so obscure, I know, but simply needs to be heard!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Those duets could be marvellous! what about:

Helpless
Out on the Weekend

Their voices would do wonderful things to these two songs. Bring 'em up boys ;D

We are young despite the years,
we are concern,
we are hope despite the times

Nice! agreed.

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

jrat

powderfinger indeed!!! id also like to hear them do "cortez the killer", simply to hear jim and mcreedy jam together.

id also like to see PJ do an MMJ song, and MMJ to a PJ song.

"Look out, Mama, there's a white boat comin' up the river"
i named my boat after this song
wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into a dream - pink floyd

i would, without a doubt and with no shame, pee my pants...

anything off Ragged Glory would be stellar
don't want them to do Cortez cause i'll pass out and miss the song
i think an appropriate classic i would love to see eddie and jim go nuts to... keep on rockin' in the free world... an oldie but a goodie....
everything sucks. really.

While my son's on record as loving Neil, he's also on record as stating that he'll never cover Neil - things may have changed now if he has the chance to sing and play with PJ (totally amazing but well-deserved)..guess we'll have to wait and see.   Interested to see Rockin' in the Free World classified as an 'oldie' - what does that make Burned...a fossilized ditty in need of carbon dating?!?   What does it make Expecting to Fly..."older than dirt"?!?   Sorry, I couldn't resist.   Congratulations to the boys.  Neil covers or not, it'll be amazing for them and for their newfound fans as well.  Long live MMJ.

well, GS, keep on rockin' is an oldie compared to say, are you passionate, bandit, or this old guitar. expecting to fly is filed under classic... love BS and swoon over that song!
it's not a rip on neil in any way, and anyone who knows me would know that. you'll hear played on classic rock-themed satellite stations instead of top-40. not that it matters. not that neil's music really ages. everything is so fast-paced in the music biz that the 80s are now vintage... it's all relative.
everything sucks. really.

George... also, maybe being older, you hate reading "oldie" about things that happened 10 years ago. i completely understand. my husband is 21 years older than i am and to him, 10 years is a blip whereas to me, it's almost half my life...

Not really, it has nothing to do with the fact that at 43 I am in the class of "world's oldest living MMJ fanatics"!    I don't hate reading "oldie", either.   One of my coworkers calls me "Oldies" because I keep telling him about the greatness of the '60s and '70s music that he refuses to listen to!   He's on record as refusing to watch a movie made before 1977 because that's when he was born.  Ridiculous, isn't it!?   You have a point, it's all relative.  Neil's been putting out great music for 40 years now, and RITFW it's mid-career for him now, I guess.   No offense taken or meant to you, Wellfleet!

I'd go with love and love only but its pretty damn long. Second choice, Southern Man. I'd reallly love to see Jim come and sing indifference, that would be amazing.

blenderbaby

I can not believe no one has thought "Like a Hurricane" would leave a few gobs hanging.......................  and if a "million to one" shot happened, i would be arrested for lewd behavior, as i would be standing there masturbating :P
A lie is not always a bad thing, as it must lead to a truth!

Can you guys imagine how good Eddie's voice would sound on Gideon.

It seems like a seemless mesh, and I really hope that some of you get the opportunity to experience that.

What would be the perfect song to hear Jim's voice on or for MMJ to cover?

I just listened to Gideon and it gave me chills to think about.

Gideon remindes me of where Pearl Jam is coming from I'm sure it's probably Eddie's favorite song.

i like what someone said at the beginning of the post about them covering something from  "on the beach"  its a good album, and revolution blues would fit in very well with whats happening lately. or maybe they will play a song off of neils new "protest" album i keep hearing about. i want to hear it badlee.

"song X", "the ocean" "peace and love" all off of mirrorball ,if i remember correctly, would be logistically prolly pretty easy.  say it three times fast.  ..my vote would be "i've been waiting for you" off of self-titled..the nitzsche days is alright wit' me, so kudos to "expecting to fly"..maybe such a cover is too obvious for the pairing? ..how about "behind blue eyes" with all three of 'em screaming it out? :P
