Kick Out The Jams
Pearl Jam has just left the stage at New York's cozy Irving Plaza after a show exclusively for contest winners and members of its fan club. The enthusiasm in the room was overwhelming as the band unveiled seven songs from its new self-titled album, including the live debut of the tear-jerking love song "Come Back." The venue was loaded with celebrities, including Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, Drew Barrymore and Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and My Morning Jacket vocalist Jim James. Highlight of the night: the first live appearance in almost six years of the "Ten" track "Garden," one of five songs performed from that fabled album.

The full set: "World Wide Suicide," "Life Wasted," "Severed Hand," "Marker in the Sand," "Come Back," "Garden," "Even Flow," "Insignificance," "Given To Fly," "Army Reserve," "Gone," "Why Go," "Present Tense," "Do The Evolution," "Comatose."
Encore: "Man of the Hour," "Elderly Woman," "State of Love and Trust," "Porch," "Alive," "Yellow Ledbetter."

umm, isn't jim supposed to be at the run for the roses? ;)

neat.  i think pearl jam is cool for all the fan stuff they do.  i was thinking about that yesterday.  like, they got fed up with all the crazy stuff that happens when you get well-known like that, so they decided to do things as best they could while maintaining their integrity, right?  that's awesome.  and they made it work, too.

i started thinking about how a band like that would be able to do thinks like small venue shows, and i came up with a plan:

pearl jam would have to play the horseshoe for 4 consecutive months in order to turn around the amount of people that they could play to at the air canada centre.  BUT, the venue would be cheaper...  ;)

that's fucked.

I like the fact that they do multitrack SBD recordings of their shows and sell them at a moderate price. I REALLY like that idea. Who the hell doesn't want a high quality copy of the show that you just attended?

I still can't believe this is really happening.  That is so awesome that Jim went to the show.
There's Still Time.........

He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree.
The wind rose up set him down on his knee.
A wave came crashing like a fist to the jaw.
Deliver him wings,

It's kind of hard to think of Jim as a celebrity.

...but his work is definitely more worthy of celebrating than most celebrities I can think of.

Dontcha just? :) Me too!

And that is so cool about JIm being at the PJ show. I've seen MMJ a few times now, and I always seem to see Jim in the audience at some point, rockin out to the show, either before or after depending on their spot in the line-up. :)
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.
