MMJ put on a great show (as always), jim dancing with the bear was a fun time indeed.  He was having a [glb]blast[/glb] which was nice to see.  I wish that they would have played a longer set (about 30 min), but I guess that they were the openers.  I thought they blew PJ out of the water, but it was a good show all around.   ;D

The bear was nekkid as a jaybird last nite. Good times! Got to meet and get low-down wit Sweatboard and his better half.  :D

I know the old saying goes, 'it's all subjective' but I pity the fools who don't dig Pearl Jam.  :P   :)

Ahh Wordless!!! The back of my neck is fuckin killin me!  No pain , no Gain.

October

i was there last night....here is a pretty precise set (at dawn was not played as mentioned) maybe forgetting one though

It Makes No Difference (w/ Ed)
Off the Record
What a Wonderful Man
Gideon
Wordless Chorus
O Is the One
One Big Holiday
Anytime
Mageetah

mmj rocked as always, but i would have liked to hear some older stuff, didnt get the steam engine i missed in hartford and very little non-Z. the dancing bear was hilarious and jim did a really funny tribute speech to pearl jam with music in the background (forget the name of the song but its easily recognizable)

to whoever said mmj blew pj out of the water, i know that's an opinion but i STRONGLY disagree. i love mmj, but they are not an arena rock band, yet.  i thought pearl jam played a phenomenal set and even though i was in the nosebleeds people were all rocking hard. the energy for baba o'reilly was amazing, not to mention leash, immortality, and footsteps

Hi Friends,

Ah, where to begin.  Well, I truly can't believe how amazing the people I've met through this message board are.  The love is overwhelming.  Sean (Murph) has been the kindest, friendliest, most enjoyable host of his city, and has really taken of me and AB (wife).  He has made this trip even more special...........and it still NOT OVER ;D  We got up real close for MMJ and Sean and I were representing for all of you that couldn't be there.  I actually levitated during the jam in One Big Holliday.  OH YEAH, I taped the whole fucking show!!!!!!!!  They wouldn't let me take in the audio equipment but I video tapped the whole mmj set as well as Eddie doing "Hide Your Love Away" and some other PJ songs.  My camera get's pretty good audio so I'm looking forward to sharing once I get back to Knoxville.  One of the security guards noticed I wasn't putting my camera down and told me to stop takeing MPEG's, he was so proud of himself for catching on to me.  I was so proud of MYSELF for setting the camera on the rail and continuing to let the camera roll  ;) I got teary eyed a bunch yesterday and last night.
Top 5 teary eyed moments.........

1.  Eddie, Jim and Carl singing together on "It Makes No Difference"
2. The first notes of "Immortality" my heart just swelled and I had to put my head in my hands........I've wanted this song for a long time and I finally got it and it was beautiful.
3. "Man Of The Hour"  Eddie's voice was so emotional and powerful the song is just gut wrenching.
4. "Indifferance" with the lights up and EVERYONE singing and clapping along.
5. Eddie tagging "All My Life" onto Not For You, I've been listening to Sleater Kinney a WHOLE lot lately and I LOVE that song.  Also, the intesity of the sing alongs all night.....specifically "Why GO", there was a beautiful sounding chorus backing up Eddie the entire night.

Funny Stuff....
-Eddie Busting His ASS during Baba O' Riley.  He may have actually BROKEN his ass bone.  He did keep right on singing though.  It was litteraly the most awkward painful looking fall I've seen someone take while rocking out.  I think he actually fell about three times during this song, he was going bezerk.........I love that guy!!!!!!!!
-Jim's tribute to Pearl Jam, I can't wait for you all to see this, I had my lighter in full effect.  You have to break out the power ballad when your playing an arena and it was good to see the boys get that in.
-Jim getting his dance on with the naked bear.  I'm just so happy the bear took off his jacket and got naked for that dance.  He really was letting it ALL out!!
-"Alone" getting completly fucked up to the point they had to completly stop the song and then the crowd just absoulutly erupting in this huge cheer of love and support, then the band cutting right back in once the technical difficulties were taken care of.

Ok, so we still have Saturday night.  I plan on getting to the arena early for some pre show tailgaiting,  If anyone wants to meet up just send me a PM with your phone number and we shall give you a call.  I think Sean is going to try and get a ticket for Saturday as well.

Love,

Brian

great review brian, i'd LOVE to get a copy of your recording, my seats were incredibly far away so i had trouble seeing mmj during certain light set ups. i would love to see it up close and personal.  after last night, i'm trying to convince myself to just go on saturday and search for a ticket in the lot even though i'm broke.  two best bands on the planet

Brian- that is the coolest post I think I have ever read.  I have a smile from ear to ear and my heart picked up a few beats.  Thank you.

I see that someone over here has been reading Red Mosquito, so I'll just save the trouble and post the video I have myself. I'm sure Brian's video will be of better quality than mine and will have the whole song (mine starts at the second verse), but I hope this will hold you over for the time being.

Without further ado, here it is: JIM JAMES DANCING WITH A BEAR.

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.
