Bonnaroo thoughts and thanks

Many thanks to Dylan, who sent me via the US Postal Service the Bonnaroo '06 show.  One word: Awesome!   That setlist can only be described as "sick!" (stolen, as the war begun, from ESPN's Stuart Scott)   That's undoubtedly the longest-ever show played by MMJ in their history, right?   That's not offficial, and it's the only Bonnaroo show that I have, but I would think that it's awfully close to being the longest if it's not.
So ever since I have had it (eight days) I have basically listened to it and other MMJ.  I got 'explosive rushes' to Xmas Curtain (the studio version) on the way to work last week.  What a classic.  And they whipped it out at Bonnaroo, along with several others.   I couldn't believe the covers, y'all were right about the greatness of A Quick One, Lovin' Cup, all of 'em.
Near the end of the show when they whipped out all of those "oldies" (The Dark, Heartbreakin Man, The Bear, Evelyn is Not Real, Twilight) I was reminded of Johnny Quaid's answering machine message that was included as "It's been a great 3 or 4 Years" on the Chocolate and Ice EP from '02.   Johnny said something like "it'll be great to get back and play all of those hits...Eveylyn, Heartbreakin Man, The Bear.   And now since a few years have passed those are what can now be considered "chestnuts", I guess.
Jim was his usual hilarious self throughout the show.  The stuff about the ferris wheel was funny.
The only thing greater than listening to this show is to have been there, obviously.   I have never really wanted to see them at Bonnaroo, but that's changed now!    When I listen to this show, I just can't help but think about how great it would have been to have witnessed this performance live.
Those of you that were in attendance must feel that this was absolutely the greatest show in the history of your lives!   From the very beginning of 'When you Wish upon a Star' to the beginning of Wordless Chorus is just amazing.  I love the way they went into that.  MMJ continues to astound and amaze.   There's hardly any other band on the planet now to compare them with.
Are the other Bonnaroo shows as good as this, or even comparable?   If they are and you have them and want to trade, holler at me!    I am thinking that I may have been missing something by not trading much anymore.   I'm about to offer up the show that I witnessed and taped four years ago tomorrow.   I may have sent this one out already to Kory or Sweatboard or someone else, I can't remember.  If not, and someone wants to put it up on a server somewhere, please contact me.  I will do another post for it because this is getting long.   Long live MMJ and the tapers and traders.

George, did you get to see the blue room windows media video of the bonnaroo show?  If not, I will send it to you.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

You get that package yet?

George, shoot me your address and I'll drop the 2004 and 2005 Bonnaroo shows in the mail to ya....they're nice, but no where near as special as 2006.

I'll argue that.

I saw the blue room cast for the '06 one, and even though the set-list trumps 2004, I'll have to defend 2004 to the death.

It poured...and they kept playing. :)

If you don't know how to do torrents let me know.  There is also a 24 bit MP3 on archive.org but you can't make a CD out of that I understand.  (I guess you can only listen on your computer)

You're right, how could I compare a 1 hour set to a 3 hour show... ;D

You can burn 24-bit recordings to DVD-A, but I haven't bothered to learn how to do that yet. I'm sure a little googling will give you some results if you have the 24-bit recording that you want to try that out with.

I downloaded the show off of archive, converted it to a WAV file using FLAC Frontend, and then successfully burned it to CD using Windows Media Player.  I have it in my car right now.  I'm not very tech savvy, but I tried it and it worked.

06 and 04 are excellent for different reasons. 04 they played damn near perfectly in an explosive hour and 20 minutes. 06, they played a loose 3 hours in which there were a few flubs and a lot of fun breakouts.
