V Festival (Anybody Out There?)

Don't forget that the V Festival is a 2 day event.
Most festival goers in the UK go for the weekend with only a very small number buying days tickets (it's all about the 'experience'!)  It's now 00.40 in England which means the second day is only just finishing. Most people will be staying at the site tonight so maybe we'll get a report or 2 when people get home from the festival later in the week...

I wouldn't be seen dead at V. It's by far the most posey and least musical festival in the UK.
(Not entirely sure posey is a work but I think you'll know what I mean.)

Which of the UK festivals are still worth going to Doc? Is Glastonbury still considered the top dog?
I went to Reading a few times, only because it was just up the road  ;)

Yer, you could never describe The Jacket as a prog band but I'd like to see the set list.
You could argue that Wordless, Off The Record, maybe even Run Thru live have hints of prog in them?

If you mean from the perspective that they're dreamy tunes like something you'd hear on a Yes opus then I geuss there is some progressive aspects in there but as a whole mmmmnaw...

Glastonbury yes, Leeds/Reading yes (but the lineup didn't interest us this year). I've never been to Download but that's meant to be a good 'un.

Prog rock? I do see your point dragonboy, pity it's become rather a derogative term I suppose. I think it was a bit of laziness on the part of the reviewer.

I went along to V festival in Chelmsord, for my sins. Having only been there once back in '97 I swore myself off ever going again. It's a truly awful excuse for a 'festival'. As it happens this year, I now work about 20 minutes from the festival and got sucked into going along for the saturday, only on the pretext that there was some good music to watch.

The day was shitty beyond belief, but MMJ were unreal, stunning. It completely made my day, and I can't believe it's taken me a week to actually register here, since I swore to myself at the time that it'd be the first thing I'd do the next day. Had seen them once before at Glastonbury in 2004 (?), but at that point had only heard It Still Moves a handful of times and didn't give it my full attention. This time it was the only thing I was really looking forward to seeing, and it was one of the most effective live performances I've seen for years. It's really hard to explain properly, but I was buzzing afterwards. I don't agree with the review claiming 'a small uniterested crowd'. Admittedly was near the front, so not really sure what was going on (or how many people) were behind me, but the atmosphere was good where I was.

Set was full of highlights, but have to say Gideon and Run Thru stood out.

So in short .... V Festival is shit beyond comprehension, avoid it with your life. And MMJ made a miserable bloke very happy that day.
