Ok I know this is a bit selfish of me to be ranting about this, but the jacket has gotta come back to Houston! I know they played 2 Texas dates already and the Euro and Australian dates were cancelled, so I am begging for a date somewhere, before/after/in the middle an overseas tour, whenever, wherever, bring back the rock! I know this band is pretty much blowing up (relative term) all over the place now, and probably enjoying a little bit of chill time before the summer stretch, but let a brotha know sumthin'. Yes, Bonnaroo would be amazing to see, but I'm not bettin on going to that. ACL Fest is a decent sub for that, although I've never been before to Bon. Any Houstonians around that are feenin' as much as I am? I knew I should've made the trek to see em @ the Gypsy. Ah well, atleast Oasis and Dinosaur Jr. are comin to town soon (fingers crossed for Radiohead). But MMJ are young and in their prime, so bring it! Guess I'll get back to work now...

It is a really important time for My Morning Jacket to reschedule and play the Houston show.

It would be decisive blow to the violent rift developing between the native Houston gangs and the transplanted New Orleans Hurricane Katrina gangs. Jacket, do it for humanity.

Plus, I'm only a three hour drive from the dirty port city;-)

One more thing, get well Jim (if you haven't already)!
I've had pneumonia twice, and it probably was nowhere near what Mr. James dealt with. I can't begin to imagine what kind of toll touring/promoting can put on someone's health, including all of those crazy other-worldly sounds he makes night after night (isn't masterplan one of the greatest songs ever?). Hope the rest of the band is makin out alright as well. Houston misses ya, but I don't doubt at all The Jacket is doing everything they can do right now. Thanks for the music and the spaces you can put me in...

I see that MMJ is now scheduling shows with Pearl Jam.  I really hope that the band honors their promise to make up the Houston show that they canceled in order to tape Austin City Limits...  Jim assured us that we would get another show, but in my opinion, them playing a stadium show with PJ does NOT count as a make up for a club date no-show.

I don't have a problem with the band taping ACL, but I DO have a problem with them not making good on their word. :-/

give em  some time bro. this is by no means their tour, but a way to play somewhat shorter sets and get back into the whole touring ethos. you can bet your bottom dollar that they will make good on their promise with a headline tour of their own before too long. i would think maybe later summer, but that's completely uninformed drivel, so don't take my word for it.

So, more than a year ago MMJ was scheduled to play here in Houston, but cancelled at the last minute to tape an Austin City Limits show (this detail was conveniently not revealed to us).  We were told that the band had a "personal issue" that forced them to cancel & that the show would be rescheduled.

Then in March I pointed out that MMJ was going out on tour with Pearl Jam & that Houston still didn't have a make-up show scheduled.  I was told to be patient & that Jim and the Boys were good for their word and that the show would be made up.

Well, here we are six months later and MMJ has another tour scheduled... With one Austin date and 2 (TWO) dates in Dallas, but *no* dates in Houston.  Not a make-up, not a reschedule, not nothing!

Well, I for one am sick of MMJ and their so-called "good" word.  If you tell your fans you're going to do something, then do it.  If you cancel a show so that you can play on PBS, then tell the truth and spare us the "personal issue" BULLSHIT!

Sadly, despite the rose colored glasses many of us insist on seeing the world through, it is quite obvious that My Morning Jacket is no different than the Nicklebacks, the Killers & the Guns 'n Roses of the music business -- Musicians who will do, say and promise anything to their fans in order to move another couple of CDs ("Dude, let's do a tour to make sure the new double live cd ships PLATINUM!").

How sad... :'(
