Austin > Dallas > Border Towns > Houston   ;)

MMJ does get mentioned in the article which surprises me. If Andrew Dansby (don't know his work) of the Houston Chronicle is familiar with the jacket then the band must be making some media headway.

Melee could put the hurt on Houston's music scene

QuoteA recent nightclub brawl underscores Houston's tenuous relationship with the national independent music scene...

Two Gallants is the kind of indie band that could end up skipping Houston. Many don't include Houston on tour itineraries, or they'll play here once, while Dallas and Austin get multiple dates...

Should Two Gallants skip Houston in the future, it wouldn't be alone.

The Decemberists, a buzz-worthy band from Oregon, will play Austin and Dallas on its fall tour — but not Houston. Another popular independent act, Sufjan Stevens, lined up a date in Dallas and two in Austin, but none in Houston. My Morning Jacket, which had to cancel a Houston gig last fall because of illness, won't stop here on the first leg of its current fall tour. Dallas has two shows on the itinerary; Austin has one.

illness, wtf?

I pretty much have to completely ignore the fact that the band/management went against their word and didn't reschedule for this tour. Whatever, maybe they'll be back later, maybe not, but I'm making the drives to Austin and Dallas. Imagine if you lived in Europe, as you'd be lucky to catch MMJ over maybe once every couple of years, if not less. Any band, such as The Decemberists, that claims that the incident at Walter's gave them more reason to not come here are basically full of shit (last year weekend of Hurricane Rita was original date) . Same with MMJ, both weren't coming anyway. I saw Built to Spill last week, which was amazing, and they rescheduled, something the aforementioned bands didn't do. I appreciate BTS.

Also, if Oasis, of all bands, can come back to town after a cancelled gig, then anyone else can.
