Finally got home after too long on a bus, here goes...

What a day!

I rolled into Charleston about 3ish, decided to get a drink at a local cafe and then took a cab to the Plex to pick up my ticket.  I picked it up and was just hanging out on the curb figuring out what I was going to do to kill a few hours when this guy came up to me and asked me "Are you here for the station thing?"  I said, no, that I had nowhere to go and I was just hanging out.

Turns out his name was Rick, and he had to be the Jacket's tour manager, or something like that.  He ended up getting me into a contest winners exclusive "Pre-Show Soundcheck Party" (Jim's words), that was absolutely unbelievable.  It wasn't much of a soundcheck, more like pure perfection of a musical experience.  It started off with Jim on acoustic and Carl playing the steel and they did "Hopefully," then the rest of the band came out and they busted out "Rollin Back" and "Anytime."  It was amazing to see one of my favourite bands play my favourite song for what felt like just like me, but there was about a dozen others present.

I never once thought a live performance could be so wonderful.  It was awe-inspiring.  After they were done Rick handed out wonderful signed show posters.  I'll post a picture of it in the near future.

The actual show - it was bliss.  Starting with "At Dawn" absolutely destroyed me (in a good way) and  "One Big Holiday" was just as awesome as the Conan performance, if not more.  The rest of the show was as great, too.  I love how there wasn't so much of an encore, more like a second act.  I only  wished that "Dancefloors" was played, but I think there was already too much greatness in one set.

What a wonderful day, thanks to one wonderful person and one wonderful band.   ;D

In the words of Borat, "Verrr nice"
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.
