Tickets are still available for 91.9 WFPK Presents: Thanksgiving Eve '06.

The Nov. 22 concert features My Morning Jacket with guest Wax Fang and will include performances by VHS or Beta Dee-Jays, Squallis Puppeteers and a 21 Santa Salute (courtesy of WHY Louisville).

Oh man, looks like we have a little tradition starting here.  I am going to have to try to work this out next year if possible.  Thanksgiving Eve blows Christmas Eve away! :D
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

all ages?

does this mean no booze at the Gardens?
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

I hope they broadcast it again this year, I'll be there this year (unlike last... stupid career I picked...) I'll have to teach the wife how to capture the FM broadcast... let's cross our fingers!

i can't believe i'm going to miss this.  DAMNIT!!!!!!  I might have to find a way.

amybee

maybe a louisville local could clue the rest of us in on the booze situation at the gardens.  i've been to venues that serve at shows that are all ages, they just mark the under-agers with big x's on their hands.  i would really like to know what the deal is though.  i will be celebrating my birthday that night and the lack of adult beverages = buzzkill.

where's the closest bar to the gardens?

Kory

fourth street is full of bars... although very trendy theme bars...
Only 2 blocks away though...

I took the day off work, just to go downtown early, take some pictures and drink some beers. I may be down at the BBC drinking about noontime...

Sounds good.  I might see you there.

As far as the Gardens, I went to a Black Crowes show there when I was in High School.  They were serving beer, just not to me, if I remember correctly.

Corndogs And Asscrack

I've been to over 200-300 rock shows at the Gardens. It's always all ages and alcohol is always served. I can't imagine this still not being the case. This is Kentucky, not California. Hell, you might even be able to smoke without to much of an uproar.

Let's focus on the fact Squallis is going to be there as well as a 21 santa salute!
Will Squallis be with Wax Fang or something with the VHSorBETA dj? I hope they're involved in the whole show...

This will be really cool.  I wish everyone in the audience would dress up as well.  As Santa, or a woodland creature, or just as a dandy with a waxed moustache and a top hat.

So Tundra... Am I going to see a guy in a paper mache bear head walk into the BBC a few hours before the show? I'll be sitting there with a bag full of canned goods and a fat head from the dark star porter.... mmmmm!

I was trying to hype it up a week ago. I can't wait to see what's in store for us with the extras let alone the concert!

Any idea about an afterparty location?

BBC is good, but if you like a place with a more local vibe and good prices try the Third Street Dive.  I tried to find a web page, but only found their myspace page:
http://www.myspace.com/thirdstreetdive

The bars/restaurants at Fourth Street Live are one block closer, but are also chains with generally higher prices.  Third Street Dive is 0.3 miles or 3 1/2 blocks from the Gardens on Third Street between Muhammed Ali and Liberty.

Not sure if this will work, but here goes...
