Saw them at the Fox in Boulder a  few weeks ago....I also was frustrated with their sound, but i liked the songs.   Something wasn't quite dialed in.   Eisenhower, however, is incredible.
Beautiful.  

What really intrigues me is the fact that they used to be a jazz-oriented band heavy on improv - you would never guess that by what they are playing today.

I'm interested to hear the "old" Slip.....
