I moved back to texas this summer and i couldn't be happier moving away from phoenix as far as the music scene goes.  The first time i saw mmj away from tx was at the marquee theater in nov of 05.  I have to say both the venue and the crowd was less than steller.  MMJ put on a good show but it seemed like it was just going through the motions.  Unfortunatly i think phx is the backwater when it comes to live music unless its heavy metal, or ska punk.  I was tempted to go back and see mmj in phoenix at the beginning of this year.  My friends that i had turned on to mmj were excited to go see them.  Unfortunatly in az i became the guy who tried to turn everybody into mmj fans.  Well i telling everybody how great mmj was in austin and dallas.  Well i have to say according to the setlists it does seem as if phx got the shaft again. 19 songs compared to 21 and 22 in dallas and austin.  I got to researching and I looked at all the cities mmj have played and it seems in so called good music cities they play longer and seem more energized.  I know this seems obvious but i was wondering what everyone else thinks.  Am i one of those obnoxious austin people who expect every city to have music fans like us?

From memory, I would say the average show on this tour has been twenty songs.   And they have ranged from 18 to 21 for the most part.  I would bet if you factor in time, they get even closer.  I mean, if you get Dondante, Run Thru and Steam Engine, you might "only" get 18 songs.  But, either way, we are talking about shows that are over two hours!  Last years shows were more like 14 songs and only one and a half hours.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.
