I think it was before It Beats 4 U when Jim James said something like "there has been a lot of talk about this song... maybe too much talk".  Any ideas as to what he is talking about?

Are you sure it wasn't before Off The Record?  That would make sense.  Otherwise I don't know.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Was that at the Thursday or Friday show? I don't recall hearing anything like that, but maybe Dylan would as he was closer.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

pretty sure (not positive) that Bono says something like that before U2 played Sunday Bloody Sunday at Red Rocks back in the 80's.

however, he was saying something like that during the Z tour before they played Anytime, too.

but, pretty sure it's a reference to Bono at Red Rocks

it was thursday at red rocks but i'm not sure what it referred to. Tracy seems to be on the right lines because it seemed like Jim laughed a little after he said it as if it were a reference to someone or something else.

i just googled it.  Tracy's right.  Bono introduces Sunday Bloody Sunday on Under the Blood Red Sky (taped at Red Rocks) by saying "there's been a lot of talk about this song, maybe too much talk."

That Jim's a righteous (and clever) dude.

Before Anytime he said "There's been alot of talk about this song, maybe too much. We're here to set the record straight".
Politics. It's a drag. They put one foot in the grave, and the other on The Flag.

I used to have that on VHS, played the shit out of it (that & Rattle & Hum - who didn't?)
How funny is Jim?
Well spotted Tracy  :)

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.
