Yo aMD,

I've seen a lot of complaints lately about Honest Man. I love that song. It always makes me think of a smoky honky-tonk bar in the middle of nowhere.  I have a recording of it that's pretty recent (can't place it at the moment, it's a taping) and they rock it so hard.  Big fan.

Unrelated, I maintain that the version of Run Thru I submitted is better than the current one posted  :P

In the Lolla program it said that later this year (Sept. maybe?  I don't remember for sure.) they will be selling recordings of various sets on iTunes and that last year they had 25 main stage bands that they sold.  Hopefully this year they have MMJ.  Pearl Jam  would be sweet too.

very nice.

getinthevan, i wonder if since the powers that be didn't see fit to broadcast the performance in the AT&T room, will they bother to sell the MMJ performance as audio? It would seem like a no brainer, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were looked over.  >:(

Curtis Mayfield like I said  ;)

Cheers Jernigan! It's a shame that the clip didn't run to the end. The song finishes with an amazing lengthy instrumental wig-out. Let's hope a taping surfaces soon...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Just one thing.......this vid is pretty bad, but given with what it was
taking with, the audio is damn good.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Me and my bro got to the AT&T stage pretty early about half way thru the Dax Riggs set, which wasnt to bad. We staked out a spot about 25-30 yards from the stage left-center. We met a group of PJ fans that were really, really cool and we saved spots for each other for bathroom/water/digital oasis runs. Lupe Fiasco was more entertaining than I had expected, I wasnt really familar with any of his work. KOL really got the day going for me. They sounded tight and played a good mix of songs and brought Ed Vedder out for the last song which kicked ass. The last half hour before MMJ came on honestly felt like about 4 years. After KOL was done it started getting extremely packed. MMJ put on one hell of a show, very high energy. Also I dont believe I've ever seen a band having more fun on stage. Lots and lots of smiles especially from Jim and Tom. Highlights for me were Dancefloors, One Big Holiday(how could you ever get sick of this song live?), Run Thru( fucking amazing), Move On Up, and Jim's fantastic POWER SLIDE during Wordless Chorus(which I can't believe no one mentioned yet). After MMJ was done clostraphobia was setting in so we bolted for the back. We grabbed some food, caught a couple songs of TV On The Radio set, and found a spot to sit on the grass for PJ. We didnt see PJ so much as we watched them on the big screen and listened :). During Alive they started letting off fireworks and they lasted for about 3 songs or so. The fireworks were amazing with the Chicago skyline and PJ playing. Perfect way to end an amazing day.
i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

The end of Move On Up was killer DB. I'm not familar with the original, but they brought the rock to the end of the song.

Someone asked earlier about the age of the orchestra and to me it looked like they had kids as young as 12 or 13 up to 16 or 17. I couldnt tell for sure, but it looked like they all were wearing purple hospital scrubs. The conductor also must of been a fan because he was rocking out and I even saw him singing along to a couple of songs.

Here you go Jeffro! This is for you & anyone else who hasn't heard the original - shame on you!  ;)
Just make sure you go out & buy some Mr. Mayfield, the album 'Curtis' that this song is on is an excellent starting point  :)

I can't believe I forgot about Jim's power slide!

I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they'll still sell a recording of the show on iTunes.  Or maybe the band will release it as something to hold everyone over until the next album.  After all, a recording of them with the CYSO would be pretty sweet.

5 posts!  Sorry....

Here is 3 minutes of movin on up, again crackly sound but wow, what a great cover!   Man, I hope somebody taped this.  Check out Jim at the end, it looks like it's just getting started at the three minute mark.
