Quotedorothy and i will be there. we will be the ones sick on funnel cake. oh, AND THE ONES STANDING WITH EC.
cakey, should we wear spanish dresses to honour shelby?  steve's going to flip when he sees how ricock i get at a show, but that's ok.

*****ADVANCED WARNING*****
listen, for all of y'all who've never had me standing beside you at a concert, i whip my hair (fairly unconsciously), and apparently it hurts, so be careful and give me about a 2 foot long radius, which is approximately how long my hair is these days.  if i do whip you, please let me know, and i will be more careful.  the last time this happened, i found out because i looked beside me and a boy was encircling his girlfriend and using his hat as a shield, and so i felt embarrassed, and i wish he would have just told me.

i will wear a special shelb dress for every day she is not with us. here's the real deal though: i will be wearing very little at the actual festival because i will be suffering from heat stroke. i can't wait to see this hair flip action. we have been known to get a little bananaz as well

EC

if you wear almost nothing, i will most likely not be flipping my hair to my morning jacket, but instead, basking in the hotness of yourself.

i keep forgetting that this is not facebook.

hehe i love the fact you gave everyone notice meg...  :D that said, i've been in a similar situation at a gig, and got whipped across the face a few times. not a huge amount of fun. also inappropriately overenthusiastic dancers get a tad annoying sometimes  ::)

love a song for the way it makes you feel

QuoteI'm pumped there will be girls there. Every serious Jacket fan I meet is always a dude. and that's cool, because i fall within that same demographic, but it gets old. I'm thinking about signing up for MMJ-Date to find that special someone

poor sticky... i have to say you're right about the general demographic, although the demographic here (that i know of anyway) is me (girl obviously) and my flatmate (guy - he is literally the only ONLY person i know who has an album - apart from my best friend who i bought z for her birthday). so at least you have others around who love the jacket!!

i'm sure there's lots of lovely single jacket-loving chickies out there, just waiting for a guy who can achieve impressive beard growth and loves mmj!!  ;)

My Dearest Ali,

Your kind words have restored my faith in humanity, and I certainly appreciate your vote of confidence.  To think, you have only your flatmate with which to share the Jacket.  I really shouldn't complain, because everyone close to me that I've taken to a show has been converted. It's the best to listen as your friends start to really get into them and you can see what songs get them hooked.  I hope you'll keep buying MMJ albums for your friends' special occasions; maybe you'll get through to someone.

I'm so glad my old duplex-mate moved to Austin so I have a place to snooze.  I will be there only for Sunday shows though (arriving late Sat afternoon).  Hopefully I'll be able to meet a few of you then!  8-)
My jacket's gonna be cut slim and checked

;D ;D ;D

I so love that!  The Jacket has the same effect on me.  But I tend to pull my hair back into a pony tail due to heat.  But watch out when the V comes out, I tend to jump up and down and flail about (arms, legs, you name it).  I cannot help it, certain songs like One Big Holiday just totally bring it out!  And I need enough room to be able to turn around and spin and the like (not super-crazy unlimited devotion style, but I definitely have left over spinning dance moves from my Dead tour days...or was that Dead tour daze..... ;))

let us take a minute and reflect on the history of the flying v and its role in the annals of musicdom:

here is a fine example of the old adage "it is possible to rock ANYWHERE, as long as you have a flying v."

hey, do you remember the movie "the wizard" with fred savage and he had a little brother that was crazy good at nintendo?  I loved that movie.

Look....Jenny Lewis was in that movie!  I do not remember seeing it, but maybe I will queue it up on Netflix as a guilty pleasure movie to watch.

oh it'll happen!! there's only 20 million people in australia, so sooner or later i'll have the whole population converted!!!  ;D

oh man that takes me back. the Powerglove!!! You'll have to bear in mind that I was born in 1985, so a kid's movie about a Nintendo championship probably means a little more to me. If I were you, I'd put "me, you, and everyone we know" atop your list. I really enjoyed that one.

oh yeah, Wizz, "Now You're Playing With Power!!!"

Yeah...I am of the Atari generation, never was very good at Nintendo.  Basically, being born in the 70's means that I am really all about Pinball.

I actually found this image on a shirt awhile ago (mine is a navy shirt with yellow wizard, not as awesome as this psychedelic version...but, when I got this shirt is when my husband coined me as the wizzard :))

Also, FYI, based on your suggestion, I just moved "me, you, and everyone we know" up on our Netflix queue (it was on there, but not in the next delivery).  Miranda July was something of a Portland darling when I moved here, so I would love to see what she is all about.

ItsAllSticky

See, after Super Nintendo I gave up cause there were 8-year-olds kicking my ass when Nintendo 64 came out.  It probably benefitted my social health in the long run ::)

I don't think you'll be disappointed with "me, you...." I thoroughly enjoyed it.

ever since I was a young boy, i played the silver ball. from Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all...which is weird cause i'm not from New York.

that wasn't that funny. sorry.

JohnnyRage

This thing is getting really close. I have so much research still to do.

I think the headliners are strong this year, but the undercard, usually the jewel of this event is a bit weak. But maybe after digging up some info. I'll change my position on this.

I still can't decide if I'm gonna see MMJ or Wilco....

I mean, MMJ is MMJ....  however the last ACL performance is at the bottom of my MMJ shows list....

Never seen Wilco.

Hopefully MMJ will show up in the still open slot at Stubbs Saturday night and I won't have to decide.

Woad. i didn't realize that was her!  I used to love that movie.  it featured the premeire of super mario 3!  I'm pretty sure this movie is out of print and hasn't been released on DVD.  My brother in law, who's a geek for shitty or camp movies, saw a VHS copy at a convention for $60 and actually thought about buying it.

aMD

woah, actually they have released it.  that must have just recently happen.  It's going to the top of my netflix queue
