Thanks for the stellar review on Sunday's performance Ms. Yvon.  Super jealous that you got to see The Bear....but you deserve it lady  ;)

I had my Ba...Ba...Bananas...nanas shirt on Saturday.  However, it was hidden beneath my sweater, my hoodie, and my jacket (chilly nights in Cali...).

crossing my fingers as well...after ACL and BSB I am jonesing for a purely MMJ show.  As they say, patience is a virtue!

And sorry to all that I have no video or camera shots to share.  For whatever reason, I could not get the damn thing to focus!  But I thought of all you lovely people and at one point imagined how cool it would be to go to a show and have a whole forum posse dancing, gigging, singing, and raging together.  Perhaps someday we can get a majority at a show......(of course on the West Coast  ;))

One last memory from Saturday....

After every song, Jim gave a thumbs up to the band and the kids....

It was lovely to see that.......

Quoteelizanne, thanks for the pix!

You're welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing the professional pics. I saw a lot of photographers running around, so I'm sure there are some really great ones out there.

Hey everyone, my first post on the board but wanted to drop a quick line.  I was at Bridge School this weekend as a guest of John Mayer's (we grew up together and he brought me along for the weekend).  I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the MMJ sets both days.  I really dug their stuff before the show but I have to say they were really damn good both days, I was really into their sets.

Nice group of guys too, really cool and down to earth.  I'll definitely be looking for them to come around again.

Thanks, good to be here.

One  thing that I thought was cool was that they stuck around and checked out a bunch of the acts.  Almost all of them were around before and after their sets watching the other bands.  I didn't spend a lot of time speaking with them but I stood by them quite a bit and talked to Tommy for awhile, seemed like a real good guy.

I just thought it was cool that not only were they good musicians, but they genuinely seem like a good group of guys.

You are right on the money with that thought.  There are millions of examples of things just like that that prove it.  Glad you noticed.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Love that I can hear myself give a couple woooohooo's on that clip.  And the guy who stands up at the end...well, him and I both kept jumping up to give the boys some love after every song!  That was nice, thanks for the link....

School benefit brings in the bigs

By Zach Ernst

My Morning Jacket

Two weeks before the concert, Bridge School regular Eddie Vedder dropped off the bill. He was replaced by Athens, Ga.'s My Morning Jacket, who rocked ACL fest in hula skirts last month. Even though the band was restricted from plugging in, they still rocked harder than anyone else on the bill.

MMJ is a peculiar band: half of their songs are incredible (like Z's "It Beats for You" and "Off the Record," both given the acoustic treatment here), but the rest are inexplicably boring. Some of their bland country rockers sounded even blander without any squealing Les Pauls.

so this guy is a totally idiot...not only b/c he criticizes the band but when did MMJ move to Athens, GA and claim it as their home city?!?  seriously, if you are gonna call yourself a journalist and write and criticize others art, then do your F*CKING research!
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

BH

Maybe they all fell in love at Prom and moved there. ;D

"rocked harder than anyone else on the bill"  and  "inexplicably boring" describing the same show.  What on God's earth is he blathering about??

Athens, GA? Ummmmm, I am a "new" MMJ fan but I thought they were from Louisville, Kentucky.

One Big Holiday was the biggest jam of the weekend, non Neil, this guy is stupid. He also called Neil Young's fret work sloppy! WOW
