I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

BH

I hate you Dorothy/Cake. >:(

this is making me think the new album will be complete (as far as recording goes)...and should be close to done on the mixing side by March....hmmm.
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

Ok this is making me really f'n nervous. I am on vacation March 14-21. Please DO NOT stop in St Louis during that week. If any of the boys are reading, PLEASE PLEASE stop before or after if you are touring then. I'll do roadie work for free for you. I can lift amps and clean guitars and shit. I just now what kind of fight this is going to create at home if I ask to take a road trip to see a show because I missed seeing the show because I was watching some actor churn butter in Williamsburg. I'd totally would do it but I do not relish the idea of sleeping on the couch for an extended period of time  :-/

maybe i'll win the lottery, quit my job, and go.
nothing can be changed except ourselves

sounds like fun but I won't be able to with work.  I'll just hold out hope that they get a little closer to home this summer.

yeah...i hear ya.

i'd be up for carpooling to Cincy, Indy, Knoxville, Nashville, Asheville, Atlanta....did i leave any out?

maybe we will be graced with a hometown show to kickoff the tour or to end the tour...probably more likely to end the tour with a renewal of the Thanksgiving "tradition"...

I guess this answers that other question. ::)

SXSW Lands R.E.M. Showcase; Others Added

January 9, 2008

The annual South By Southwest music festival and conference just got way more interesting—and, for at least one evening and venue still to be announced, insanely crowded. It was announced yesterday that R.E.M. will be appearing at a showcase to preview tracks from their upcoming album Accelerate. Get those elbow pads and steel-tipped boots ready, kids, and prepare to jostle (or bribe your favorite well-connected publicist to help you slip in to the show).

Others recently announced include Spain's Mala Rodriguez (featured in the December HARP, in fact), psychedelic pharmacists My Morning Jacket, post-pop princes Vampire Weekend, the revamped Breeders, post-punk pounders the Kills, sensitive guy Jens Lekman, disco diva Robyn, Bun B from UGK (which came to an end last year after Pimp C died), White Williams, Man Man, the Raveonettes and others. You can check the official SXSW site for all the news you need, and you can also subscribe to email updates.

As we previously reported in our December 21 news item about SXSW, Lou Reed will be delivering the keynote address in Austin on March 13 (the even runs March 12-16 this year). Other noted speakers will include Daryl Hall, Seymour Stein and Thurston Moore and Steve Reich

Has anyone been to SXSW before? Do you need to buy that crazy expensive pass? I'm thinking about going...mmm.....

vespachick

Hmm, sounds risky.  I found this info from last year's SXSW for those, like me, who are not in the know:

My jacket's gonna be cut slim and checked

bluesky

Thanks so much Vespachick! Looks really risky...was so glad to see the posting this morning about the Radio City show, can't wait for Friday am!!!

DaFunkyPrecedent

so do I have to buy that 600$ ticket to get into any of the shows the Jacket will be playing?  Or could I somehow get into the jacket show/Jims solo show with out buying this fest ticket?
God damn those shaky knees.
