Coltrane

probably House of Blues in San Diego....

but i would prefer the 4th and B for nostalgic reasons.......and PB & J sandwiches...

and I would probably give my left arm (the non-wanking one) to see them at this tiny place known as The Casbah....
....as mayor of Drugachusettes, I declare this pizza to be...AWESOME!!!

QuoteWell I would sell my soul for a date at Toads Place in New haven but I'd settle for the Chevy Theater in Wallingford, ct.

I would love either of those...what about The Bushnell in Hartford...

Quotejust curious about what venue you think MMJ will play?...I live in MA and i'm guess they play the Bank of America Pavillion...holds about 5,000..great outdoor venue on the water...perfect for a summer MMJ show.

i'm just back to this board after not visiting for quite some time, so i'm kinda overwhelmed...sorry if this has been covered, so when will there be a US tour? fall?

I live in Boston, so i agree BoA Pavillion would be awesome - if it's not past September...with their Z tour and Okonokos tour both hitting the Avalon (which is closed for the next year) - which is around 1500/2000,  do you think they are ready to step into a 5K venue? interesting...

To answer your question, Yes I definitely think they can play the BOA.  They sold out Radio city (6000+) and are headlining Red Rocks... they have a big following in Boston....both those Avalon shows were overcrowded...there are acts playing BOA this summer that are not as nearly as big as MMJ....not sure if it will sell out but def will be the perfect venue for them...and maybe they will get a solid opening band which always helps sales.  The Black Keys opening like Red Rocks would be asking too much but i'm already seeing them do their headlining show next month at the Orpheum so I can't complain.

What about Jones Beach...one of the prettiest places I have ever seen music...right on the water

QuoteI still don't think MMJ can handle our outdoor pavilion unless they get the Black Keys double bill kind of thing going.

If not, I'm thinking it's time for a night at THE FABULOUS FOX.  Jerry Garcia once came close to purchasing this threatre because he liked the sound so much.    No GA seating but, it would be fantastic.

A third option, of course, would be my basement.
The Fox would be niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I have a big f'n backyard. Beer and char grilled meats on me.

please to God don't play The Depot......please play Saltair or something but not The Depot.

I'm guessing it will be The Fillmore Detroit which would be a shame because as soon as Live Nation took control of it, security became a bunch of assholes.  They yelled at my little sister for texting on her phone, saying that if she was caught taking pictures again, her phone would become property of Live Nation and be confiscated.  They also yelled at people would were standing in the last row of people balcony.  The last few shows I've been to there, they've pushed everyone out of two of the six, maybe eight, doors in the front entrance so they could take peoples half full water bottles as they left the building.

QuoteAMEN... I have seen so many shows there  (Ryman) and, while the bands might feel the history, I HATE the atmosphere... I really wish they would play Van Meter auditorium... o a boy can dream!

I feel you.  I've been bitching to everyone about how I'm tired of going to the Ryman to see shows.  If you go somewhere 15-20 times a year you kinda pick up on the nuances of a place.  You see the homely atmosphere change from the welcoming atmosphere you've known since childhood into one where you can't feel what you're hearing.

I'm tired of getting hassled by ushers for standing too close to a display with my beer and the same lady that has owned the task of yelling, "If you're here for the show you need to go around to the other door" to every one who is already on his way to the other door, has been there since I was 12.  I watched that lady grow old and still I get that crap...I just get the same cold feeling from all the familiar faces there.

blah blah blah...I hope they come to the Ryman!

EDIT:  yeah...i had just gotten back from the bar so......
So soon after payday, know it seemed a shame!

I saw Alter Bridge at the  Eagles Club In Milwaukee, It was my 1st time seeing a show there, I really liked it alot, the bathroom reminded me of a morgue.  I love old buildings like that.  It had been years since I was up there in Milwaukee, I must say the city has changed alot, I was very impressed.

QuoteIf fall/winter - I am hoping for a 2-3 night stand at the Vic in Chicago.  If summer, I am hoping for the Pritzker Pavilion. Gorgeous venue, and lovely to look at the skyline.  No more Riv, please!   8-) :-*

I hear ya on the Riv, I saw The Black keys there a couple of weeks ago, they have really let it go down hill, I would almost characterize it as a shithole. The seats are falling apart, not enuff bartenders, and they over sold the show. What about Charter one pavilion on Northerly Island ( the old Meigs Field ). I have not seen a show there yet have you ?     Pritzker pavilion or the renovated Oriental Theater would be awesome. Going to see Alter bridge at House of blues with my wife 2 nites in row, this will be my first show at the HOB.

I really want to see something at the Symphony Hall especially Jacket but besides that the Ryman is really the only other alternative.  City Hall and War Memorial would be nice if they could fit now, Sommet's too big and simply fuck the municipal.  Don't get me wrong obstructed views suck ass, sitting uncomfortably close to a stranger on a hard ass bench is not the coolest, and fantasizing about bitch slapping one of the golden girl ushers is..........well that's just fun.  Whenever I get down about the Ryman I just think of Hank playing his acoustic on that very stage or Jim opening with Nashville to Kentucky and remember that it IS the Ryman and us middle tennesseans are pretty f'ing lucky.
IT'S ALL FUCKIN' CHEESE!!

I agree with all this.  With City Hall closing, somebody at the War Memorial Auditorium needs to get off their lazy ass and start booking shows.  It's a great venue, and we need more mid-size venues around here.

I LOVE the Ryman.  The ushers are completely clueless, but I don't let them ruin my good time.

I want to see some US dates! when are these coming?
